The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 400

Zi Han stepped into the dark room and the girls hurriedly closed the doors before starting the timer. Mano was the most precious prize the matron had to offer. The clients, on top of the fees, paid a deposit triple the price as insurance on Mano’s body.

If there was so much as a scratch or a strand of hair missing on his head they would be charged and the amount would be deducted from their deposit. His services were only for an hour, not a second more. An hour was strictly an hour thus the girls had to start the timer.

Zi Han pursed his lips seeing how dark the room was. A tingle travelled up his spine as he suddenly had a very bad premonition. He took a small step to the side his entire being vigilant. He swept the vent on his harem pants and took out a dagger while saying, “You only have an hour so make it count.”

Zi Han’s entire body went numb as a figure lunged at him in the dark like a predator pouncing on its prey. He swung the dagger intending to stab it into the person’s throat but the dagger was pushed out of his hand with a swoosh.

Before he could even react his entire body was pressed on the wall with his wrist bound together above his head by a powerful hand.

A familiar scent wafted into Zi Han’s nostrils and his muscles tensed up as he stopped struggling.

“Yi Chen,” he whispered and Yi Chen wilted like spinach under the hot sun as he rested his forehead on Zi Han’s shoulder.

The two of them fell into silence but if one listened carefully they would hear two heartbeats beating in sync like the rhythmic beat of love. Zi Han’s eyes reddened unable to contain his emotions.

.....

The last time he saw Yi Chen, he was in his arms about to pass out. The both of them had swollen cheeks from being slapped by the then Marshal. That time he decided that they were better off apart than together. He still loved him wholeheartedly but he no longer wanted to be the gun used to destroy Yi Chen’s family and career. He chose to love this man from afar. He had devoted his entire life to Yi Chen but he wouldn’t appear in front of him ever.

Now the man was standing right in front of him pressing him against the wall like he was afraid Zi Han would vanish in the next second.

“Yi. Chen,” whispered Zi Han feeling a little weak in his body as a teardrop dangled on his lower lashes.

“You don’t even want to call me like you used to anymore,” whispered Yi Chen the pain in his voice apparent.

Zi Han closed his eyes trying to conceal the emotions in his eyes but it was then he realised something. If Yi Chen was here then where was Tala?

“You...,” he said his voice trembling, “You betrayed me.”

Yi Chen who was immersed in the warmth radiating from his lover’s body was forced to withdraw as he hurriedly explained, “Babe, I kept her for our benefit.”

Zi Han heard it but he didn’t listen. He shoved the man away and yelled, “No, you betrayed me. You know I have been looking for this opportunity and you actually betrayed me,” he said his eyes fierce and red like a fiend in the night.

“Hahahaha... you played me,” said Zi Han with an eerie laugh ringing in the air, “I should have known you would do this. You heard what she said about my grandfather every word of it untrue but here you are defending her.”

Zi Han sneered his eyes cold as though looking at a stranger which broke Yi Chen’s heart into a million pieces.

Zi Han put away his dagger and stomped over to the window intending to leap out and go find the convoy protecting her. She couldn’t have gone far.

Watching Zi Han coldly walking out of his life again Yi Chen couldn’t bear it. He hastily grabbed Zi Han’s arm and pulled him back with the shimmering sounds of the coins ringing in the air making a hypnotic sound that could make one fall into a trance.

“Don’t go,” he said and Zi Han pushed him away again intending to get away.

“Don’t fuck with me right now. I am fucking pissed,” said Zi Han enraged.

“You don’t have to kill her. You can come back home with me,” said Yi Chen pulling him back but Zi Han refused to move.

“Yi Chen, let me go,” said Zi Han his chest rising and falling violently on the verge of erupting like a volcano that had been lying dormant for years repressing the hot lava inside.

“She called my grandmother a hoe and a third party and that her son was the rightful fucking heir. She said my father wasn’t the emperor’s son and that he was blinded by that woman’s beauty. She said all those fucking things, planned my father’s murder and I should let her what... live well and dine with escorts yet my father is forgotten ash?”

Zi Han’s body quivered in rage the more he spoke about it. All his pent-up frustrations gushed out spewing in front of Yi Chen for him to see.

Yi Chen didn’t know what to do. When he came to meet Zi Han he had mentally and emotionally prepared himself for this big moment. He hoped by the end of the night he could take Zi Han home now that he was the newly appointed marshal.

But no amount of preparation could have prepared him for this. The fear of losing Zi Han forever resurfaced and out of desperation he pulled Zi Han into his arms and planted a fierce, passionate kiss on his lips. Maybe if he reignited that spark they had Zi Han wouldn’t leave.

Zi Han struggled at first but who was he kidding? He couldn’t resist such temptation. Despite this, he managed to break that spellbinding him and pushed Yi Chen away.

Yi Chen held on to him tightly refusing to let him go. This pull-and-push action resulted in the two of them tumbling onto the bed and they began to scuffle.

“You... Yi Chen... keep this up and I will, I wil-,” said Zi Han only for Yi Chen to cut him off.

“You will what? Huh? You will break up with me?” said Yi Chen his voice dangerously low.

“No, you fucking wish,” replied Zi Han trying to free his wrists, “Just let me kill that bitch and I will come home with you. That seems like a fair exchange, don’t you think?”
