Chapter 117 - Sand Buffalos

Ban felt the sand beneath him shake. It\'s as if an earthquake is currently occurring. He glanced at his back and noticed that Delo and Belle were still not aware of it.

The second to feel the tremor was Eva who was currently in her combat form, followed by Delo\'s Barrier Turtle. Eva immediately jumped towards Ban\'s shoulder and the Barrier Turtle knocked its round head on the feet of Delo.

"Hurry, follow me!" Ban shouted desperately as the tremor beneath his feet kept on getting stronger. He ran away as fast as he could, his destination was the highest peak of the Sand Valley they saw earlier.

At this point, Belle and Delo had just felt the earthquake.

Upon hearing \'Leon\', Belle did not hesitate for a second as she also ran as fast as she could to follow behind him. She already felt the earthquake and even though the voice produced by Leon was still strange to the ears, she somehow felt the urgency brought by it.

That was a Gold Rank Adventurer\'s urgent call, if she ignored it, she would be a fool.

Delo was late to react as he felt reluctant to just follow Leon\'s order just like that. No one said that Leon would be their leader, he\'s just an Adventurer hired by them. However, upon seeing his Barrier Turtle pleading for him to go away too, he finally decided to concede and follow behind Belle. Although reluctant, he knew that he still had a duty to protect her, and he knew that his Barrier Turtle would not act that way if the matter was not urgent.

Ban immediately climbed his way towards the sand valley where a mountain of sand could be seen. Fortunately, the sands around there are denser, hence allowing him to climb to the top of the sand mountain easily.

Belle and Delo arrived a while later while gasping for air. Unlike Ban who had his body trained during his childhood, it seems that the two\'s endurance and stamina were not as great as his.

Ban ignored them as he turned his head to observe the area at the foot of the sand mountain. There, he saw a cloud of dust inching closer towards them.

The ground trembled more violently as the cloud of dust approached their location.

As the cloud of dust got closer, Ban was now able to see what\'s the cause of the earthquake as well as the cause of that rising cloud of dust.

Beneath, and the source of the cloud of dust was actually hundreds of Beasts, the size of a small carriage running tightly together.

They ran frantically as if they were afraid of something. They are like a flustered rabbit being pursued by a lion.

"Sand Buffalos!" Ban commented the moment he recognized the Beasts.

"This is bad, we need to escape before things go awry." He added before he turned around in the same direction the Sand Buffalos were going.

"What\'s happening?" Belle asked with a confused tone. They just got here above the sand mountain and she still hasn\'t even recovered her breath yet, and then they need to move away again?

"And what about this Sand Buffalo? It\'s the first time I heard of such Beast. Why do we need to escape?" She added.

"Hey… explain it to us, or else we\'ll just stay here," Delo added with a frown on his face.

Ban stopped for a moment and turned around to face them, to be precise, Delo.

"Then stay here if you want, I\'m not responsible for your life. The Quest does not involve me babysitting you. Follow me if you still want to live, stay here if that\'s what will make you happy." Ban said furiously.

He wanted to explain to them what\'s happening at first, but after hearing Delo\'s words, he suddenly changed his mind and decided to no longer bother about them.

He hurriedly went down as he followed beside the escaping Sand Buffalos.

Belle clicked her tongue annoyingly upon witnessing that scene. She glared at Delo for a second before she followed behind Leon.

"Idiot!" She muttered as she went down the sand mountain.

She could not understand why Delo was acting that way. He\'s usually very quiet, the main reason why her father decided to hire him as her bodyguard. She does not like annoying things and Delo had just become like that in her evaluation.

If only he stayed quiet, she knew that \'Leon\' would have explained something to them.

"Where are you going? Stay here… I can\'t protect you if you\'re far away!" Delo said after seeing that Belle also went down to follow Leon, the Gold Rank Adventurer.

"Huh- I still want to live, why would I stay with a clueless guy like you?" She said without looking back.

Delo did not even recognize the Sand Buffalo earlier, much more the reason why they became like that.

Her father has a Book of Techniques that recorded all the available Beasts around the city. She would always accompany her father while reading that book and she also did not recognize those Beasts which Leon named as Sand Buffalos.

Meanwhile, Leon was able to recognize it at first glance and based on his actions, she clearly knew that something was up.

Staying with Delo at this point was pointless. Even though her father hired him for a huge amount of Gold Coins, she knew that her father would forgive her and would just let it slide, as long as she\'s alive.

Delo also clicked his tongue upon hearing her response. A dark line appeared on his forehead as he knitted his eyebrows in annoyance.

He did not like the feeling of being left behind by others, especially in terms of strength and achievements. He believed that if only he was born at the same time as them, he would also achieve the same thing, or even greater.

He could only endure the humiliation that he felt as he also followed behind Belle a moment later.
