Chapter 679 - Force won’t get anything done

Translator: Thyaeria

Yu Omuri is someone with self-discipline. As long as he’s not working night shifts, he would wake up at 5 a.m. daily. This lifestyle habit of his did not change even if he was fired. Jogging by the lakeside for two hours, Yu Omuri was covered in sweat as he bought a bottle of mineral water from a convenience shop. After gulping the water down in mouthfuls, he wiped his sweat then continued his jog until he reached home.

He’s someone who wasn’t dependent on his phone, but he still subconsciously picked it up and took a look at it. It’s a professional habit of his since he was afraid that there might be patients looking for him in the hospital.

However, he was speechless at his subconscious action and awkwardly sighed. But a brief moment later, he was stunned.

There was a missed call to him. He immediately opened it up and saw that it was a call from his master, Qian Honghu. He quickly gave a call back and asked, “Master, is there anything for you to call me?”

Qian Honghu was currently sitting on an old rocking chair with a teapot beside him. There was a young man sitting not too far away from him. He cast a glance at the young man before he smiled. “How have you been recently?”

“Everything is great!” Yu Omuri immediately answered.

“There’s no need for you to lie to me. I have already heard that you’ve been fired from the hospital.” Qian Honghu said faintly and continued, “Since you can’t fulfill your ambition in Japan, I think that you should come over to China and develop.”

Yu Omuri went silent for a long while before he squeezed out a bitter smile. “Master, I’m sorry. I’ve embarrassed you.”

Back then, when Yu Omuri requested to leave, he had once sworn to his master that he would definitely bring TCM to great heights in Japan. But evidently, he had failed that, so he felt extremely ashamed.

Yu Omuri was an obstinate person, and even when he encountered a huge setback, he wouldn’t give up so easily.

“What’s there to be embarrassing about? I know that you were implicated by Yoshikawa, but your working attitude was still acknowledged by him.” Qian Honghu sighed and continued, “Truth be told, I was against you returning to Japan since the beginning. After all, the land in Japan isn’t fertile for TCM. Do you have thoughts on coming back to China to develop your career?”

“China?” Yu Omuri bitterly smiled before he continued, “I don’t have the nerve to go back.”

Qian Honghu understood his disciple well. His disciple might not be proficient in words, but he had strong self-esteem. He’s someone who’s low-profile and tolerant, even when someone mocks him, he would choose to retaliate with his actions.

“I’ll be honest with you. There’s a TCM medicine factory that’s about to set up in China. They have been seeking for talents in Japan, and you’re their target.” Qian Honghu briefly paused before he continued, “You know about him as well, he’s Su Tao, whom you’ve previously met.”

“Su Tao?” Yu Omuri was shocked before he asked, “He’s intending on investing in a TCM medicine factory?”

“That\'s right. There might be medicine factories in China as well, but not only are their standards low, they are also small-scaled. I have already been hired as a technological consultant.” Qian Honghu smiled.

Yu Omuri couldn’t forget the favor that Qian Honghu had granted him, but his master’s request has placed him in an awkward position. After all, Yu Omuri still hasn’t fulfilled his ambition, and he has already sent his résumé to a few famous enterprises in the industry.

“Master, can you give me time to consider this?” Yu Omuri asked in a low voice.

“Alright. Don’t disappoint me.” Qian Honghu said with regret in his tone.

When Qian Honghu hung up the call, he looked at Xia Yu and helplessly said, “He doesn’t seem to be too willing. I also hope to do my part for the TCM Alliance, but I’m afraid that I might not be enough. I understand Yu Omuri well, and I’m confident in bringing him over to China if I insisted. But as the saying goes, force won’t get anything done.”

“It’s fine. Regardless of Yu Omuri joining our TCM medicine factory, you will still be our consultant, so please do not reject this offer.” Xia Yu sincerely said.

“I’m ashamed, and I do not deserve that honour!” Qian Honghu said with guilt.

Wearing a smile on his face, Xia Yu replied, “There might be many physicians in the country, but there aren’t many who are well-respected as you. Mr. Su gave me this task, and I truly hope that you can agree to our request.”

However, Qian Honghu insisted and he shook his head before bitterly smiling, “I can’t accept it!”

Xia Yu immediately took out a yellow envelope from his bag and handed it over to Qian Honghu with a smile. “This is a letter from Mr. Dou for you!”

Xia Yu had been running about for the past two days. He first visited Dou Fanggang to obtain this letter before he came to look for Qian Honghu. He had already investigated Qian Honghu well, and this was a person who put emphasis on reputation. He had many friends in the industry, and he had an exceptionally good relationship with Dou Fanggang.

“That old fogey can just call me if he wants to talk to me. Why did he write a letter, instead?” Qian Honghu sourly commented.

“He said that using a letter can show his sincerity, and this is to make you recall the past.” Xia Yu smiled.

When Qian Honghu retrieved the letter from the envelope, he read it before he inwardly sighed. “That old fogey is forcing me to board this ship.”

“This is not an ordinary ship, but a ship that’s driving towards glory and honour.” Xia Yu immediately added.

Listening to his words, Qian Honghu’s eyes lit up as he solemnly said, “That’s right. It’s time for TCM to rise with glory.”

“With the support of seniors like you, why do we have to worry that TCM will not be able to rise?” Xia Yu smiled.

“TCM’s development has been too stagnant. Back then, when I took Yu Omuri as my disciple, I received contempt from many people. They all felt that I was a traitor to the country to hand China’s treasure to a foreigner.” Qian Honghu helplessly replied.

“But you still persisted in your own view and handed your medical skills to him.” Xia Yu smiled.

“I hate Japanese more than anyone else, but Yu Omuri isn’t the same. He has a pure heart for medical knowledge, and only by handing the essence of TCM to someone like him, will it prevent the future of TCM from narrowing.” Qian Honghu sighed.

After a brief pondering, Xia Yu also sighed. “I can understand your vision.”

“But it’s a pity that there are fewer people in the country that would learn TCM. Firstly, you would need to accumulate years of experience to accomplish something in TCM; it’s not a knowledge that can get you results overnight. Secondly, western medicine has reigned supremacy in the medical industry, and there is only a future for those who study western medicine. On the other hand, those that study TCM have a bleak future.” Qian Honghu lamented in sorrow as he continued, “Amongst all my disciples, only Yu Omuri was entrenched in his studies and achieved something. As for the rest, none of them could calm their hearts to study this knowledge.”

“The situation will change!” Xia Yu confidently declared.

“From Old Dou’s letter, I have truly seen the dream of when I was young in sight.” Qian Honghu suddenly straightened his body with perseverance flickering in his eyes.

After Yu Omuri ended the call with his master, he felt apprehensive. Back then, when he was learning from Qian Honghu, his master had shown him great concern and care. His master might be strict, but his master also took up a role as a fatherly figure to him.

Yu Omuri calmed down. He wanted to deal with this setback cautiously.

But all of a sudden, his phone rang. When he took a look at the incoming call, he was somewhat surprised. It was a call from Natsuki Sakamoto.

“Doctor Omuri, are you free to talk now?” Natsuki Sakamoto asked in a gentle voice.

“I am!” Yu Omuri emotionally replied. All of the haze that was shrouding his mind instantly disappeared.

“I would like to treat you to a cup of tea, so I was wondering if you’re free right now.” Natsuki Sakamoto threw out an invitation.

“I’m free right now. I’m on leave today!” Yu Omuri sighed. Even if he’s working right now, he would rush over whenever Natsuki Sakamoto needed him.

Half an hour later, the two of them met up in an elegant café. The moment they stepped in, Yu Omuri saw Natsuki Sakamoto sitting in a corner. She wore light make-up with a white short-sleeved shirt and cropped jeans that outlined her slender legs well. She even wore crystal earrings that looked adorable.

Waving her hand at Yu Omuri, Natsuki Sakamoto smiled., “Doctor Omuri, I’m here!”

Not too far away sat a couple. When the man saw Natsuki Sakamoto, his eyes flashed in astonishment before he turned to look at his girlfriend and inwardly sighed.

Yu Omuri looked ordinary, and his height didn’t even reach 5’6”. He could only be considered as an average man, and there were naturally people who felt unfair that he could have such a gorgeous girlfriend.

Sitting opposite of Natsuki Sakamoto, Yu Omuri felt a fragrance blowing in his direction that eased his mind. Calming himself down with great difficulty, he smiled. “Natsuki-san, sorry to have kept you waiting.”

Waving her hand, Natsuki Sakamoto ordered two cups of tea. Yu Omuri felt somewhat emotional since Natsuki Sakamoto actually remembered the tea that he ordered during their last meeting. The taste was light, and it wasn’t greasy.

After the teas were served, Natsuki Sakamoto gracefully took a sip of it and asked, “Doctor Omuri, is there something troubling you?”

“No!” Yu Omuri said in guilt. He couldn’t tell Natsuki Sakamoto about his unemployment since it would only make her feel disappointed in him.

Yu Omuri took up the cup of tea and took a sip with his hands trembling, which betrayed the awkwardness on his heart.

Biting on her lips, Natsuki Sakamoto heavily sighed and replied, “Doctor Omuri, you’re not treating me as a friend.”

“What makes you say that?” Yu Omuri looked at Natsuki Sakamoto in astonishment. However, he was bellowing in his heart that Natsuki Sakamoto actually considered him as a friend!

As Natsuki Sakamoto’s lips rose up, revealing her adorable canine teeth, she said, “Friends should stand by each other in times of difficulty, but you’re hiding something from me.”

Her words left Yu Omuri in long silence before he let out a long sigh. “Alright, I’ll be honest with you. I have already been fired from the hospital, and I’m currently unemployed.”

“No way! Doctor Omuri, you’re a capable person, and the hospital is the one suffering a loss for firing you. You can go to a higher platform to develop your own career.” Natsuki Sakamoto smiled.

With a self-mocking smile, Yu Omuri replied, “The Vice-President, Mr. Yoshikawa, has already been blacklisted, and even I was affected by him. I’m afraid that I have to leave the medical industry now.”

All of a sudden, Natsuki Sakamoto placed her hand on top of Yu Omuri’s hand and encouraged him, “You can do it, Omuri-kun. I know that this incident will not bury you, and truth be told, I’m here as a middleman.”

“Middleman?” Yu Omuri was shocked as he looked at Natsuki Sakamoto.

“I’m actually acting on behalf of Mr. Su to invite you to develop your career in China.” Natsuki Sakamoto smiled as she continued, “I have already made the decision to find a job in China, and my father has already supported my decision.”
