Chapter 116: Facing his fears
"Tell me where Andres went?" She placed her foot on the head of the man and pushed it down harshly.
"I don\'t know …I really don\'t know…" The man shook his head. "I just joined their guild; they told me nothing other than the fact that we needed to stop you here."
Hearing his response, Wistoria raised her foot and brought it down.
"AHHH!"
"You don\'t know anything about where he went? Then what about this mist?" Wistoria lowered her head. "How are we supposed to get rid of it, huh?"
"I have no idea!" the man squeaked. "I told you, they just asked me to come and join their guild. I was never involved in their decision-making from the start. Andres only trusted those five and no one else; they must know something."
"Are you trying to anger me—"
"Lady Wistoria!"
Wistoria paused and turned to look at the two men who were running towards her.
"What\'s wrong?"she asked.
"Something is very wrong, Lady Wistoria," Xavier said to her in a hurry. "These people, they never wanted to kill the priests in the temple. They just wanted the entire island to fall into an emergency. Their real targets are the masters of the various guilds."
"That\'s where they want to play the melody of Doomsday."
Xavier felt flustered.
The guild masters were one of the pillars who have restrained the dark guild beastmen. If they died then what would happen to the balance of Brystoria?
Especially with Emiliano doing god knows what.
"Is that what you were planning?" She turned to look at the man who was lying on the floor. When the man flinched, Wistoria knew that he had been lying to her all along.
"Are you going to tell me the truth or not?" as she spoke she unsheathed her sword and then placed it against the neck of the man. The burning blade caused the skin to burn and the man hissed in pain. "You better confess the truth before I cut your head off."
"I—" the man opened his mouth. Whether to speak the truth or say another lie, neither of them got to know about it. As the man\'s eyes suddenly popped out of the sockets and —
Boom.
Flesh and bones splattered all over the pearly white walls. Large drops of blood trickled down onto the floor.
"Lady Wistoria are you alright?" Xavier rushed to where Wistoria was standing and looked at her with concern.
Wistoria wiped her face with the sleeves of her shirt. "I am fine," she spat on the floor and looked at the corpse that had exploded into millions of pieces. "It seems like we finally have our answers."
It wasn\'t that these people didn\'t want to answer.
Something seemed to be stopping them.
"What now?" Levi kicked a corpse aside and said to Wistoria, "If we stay trapped inside this place, we will lose the precious time to go after Andres."
Wistoria turned and remarked, "I know but we cannot take the risk of stepping past the mist." Her brows were furrowed as she looked at the mist that was hovering outside the temple. "If we step through it, the chances of our bodies melting and turning into a puddle of flesh and bones are very high."
"How do you know?" Levi asked.
"Because I have once seen people walk through this mist you idiot," Wistoria sneered. "In fact, it\'s not even a mist. It\'s a mosquito cloud– the Mosquitoes found in the Valley of Iris."
"No," Levi instinctively refused when he heard her words. He had heard of these mosquitoes. And knew very well what these Mist Mosquitoes were capable of. They were like mini-mini-even more mini–piranhas.
They moved together in clouds as if mist were moving from one place to another. And everytime something moved past them, only bones were left behind and in case these Mist Mosquitoes were really hungry, they wouldn\'t even leave the bones of their prey behind.
If this mist really consisted of those mosquitoes then wouldn\'t they be locked here for who knows how long?
"I am afraid that there is no point in denying," Wistoria glanced at the man before stepping towards the entrance of the temple. "Now we can only hope that Damien will be able to get us out of here."
Hearing her words, Levi scoffed.
He rolled his eyes and remarked, "If we are relying on the man then we might as well think of something ourselves."
As he finished speaking, he walked out of the temple without looking behind him.
Xavier watched him leave when he heard Wistoria say, "How is that man\'s mana training going?"
"Lady Wistoria —"
"There is no need to look at me with that expression," she said to the man with her lips curled in a smile. "But I dare say you are quite bold to hide something from me in my house."
"I didn\'t–" Xavier wanted to say something but Wistoria raised her hand and stopped him. She said to him, "Spare me the reasons. Just tell me whether or not my husband will stay alive after this —I fear I will not look good in black."
"You will look fascinating in black, my lady."
"Xavier."
"Yes, I am sorry," Xavier lowered his head. "He should be fine as long as he doesn\'t lose his head completely."
"Then you mean to say that the chances are really low?" Wistoria sighed. She crossed her arms in front and looked up at the sky that was blurred due to the cloud of mosquitoes.
Damien—you better stay alive.
"Achooo!" Damien skidded down a cliff. But he didn\'t stop running as he charged down the cliff and turned to look behind him.
When he saw the cheetah beastman following him, he turned and looked at the front. Enjoy exclusive chapters from m-v l\'e|-NovelBin.net
