Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse

Chapter 48: Forty-eight chapters Shock turns to surprise

Apart from the bookstores, pharmacies, and grain and oil stores, Su Jin also found a motorcycle shop on her own, which she happened upon by chance. She didn’t buy the entire shop but purchased 30 motorcycles from it, with the condition that each motorcycle be fueled up and delivered to their temporary warehouse.

With this purchase, she almost cleaned out the motorcycle inventory of the shop. The shop owner was so delighted that he wished he could deliver the motorcycles to Su Jin immediately, but he first needed to make sure each one was filled with fuel, so he hurriedly instructed his staff to fuel up the bikes.

After getting the contracts for the bookstore, pharmacy, and the grain and oil store, Su Jin was ready to go home. She had finally spent all the money and couldn’t be happier about it. She thought about calling Lu Hao to tell him about it, but Lin Xiuyuan called her first.

“Su Jin, we’re in trouble, our warehouse has been emptied, everything is gone!” Lin Xiuyuan’s voice was filled with urgency and anger.

He had planned to come to the warehouse with Huang Yunxiang today to store some items. As soon as he opened the door, he was stunned. Why was the warehouse completely empty? Had he gone to the wrong place? He even checked to confirm that it was indeed their warehouse.

Huang Yunxiang, who was behind him, had already started crying. How could this be? All their family’s efforts, gone?!

Huang Yunxiang cried and called Lin Cheng. Lin Xiuyuan thought of Su Jin and immediately called her.

“Lin Xiuyuan, calm down,”

Listening to Lin Xiuyuan’s hysterical voice on the phone, Su Jin felt like she might have done something wrong; the poor guy had probably been scared out of his wits.

“How can I calm down, sis? Let’s call the police. It’s better to recover as much as we can,”

“No need, I’ll explain when I get home. For now, don’t call the police. I’m on my way home,”

She was on her way home in a taxi and because the driver was there, she couldn’t say too much.

This situation was tough on the family, except for Li Xiuying, Lu Guanhai, and Nie Qing; the rest were anxious like ants on a hot pan. But since Su Jin had said not to call the police yet, they could only fret at home.

“Tell me, dear, aren’t you worried at all?”

Lin Yunguo looked at Li Xiuying, who was sitting on the sofa watching TV with Nie Qing. If it had been before, this old lady would have been hopping mad by now.

Li Xiuying and Lu Guanhai weren’t entirely sure if the items were taken by Su Jin, but they felt that it was very likely her doing, so now all they could do was keep their cool and wait for Su Jin to come home.

Nie Qing shrank back a bit. It seemed that last night his apprentice and that girl were indeed up to this, and he was debating whether to comfort everyone when Su Jin arrived.

“Xiao Jin, tell us, what is this all about?” Lin Tianhui had already cried for a while, and seeing Su Jin return, she felt like crying again.

“Yeah, Xiao Jin, who would do such an awful thing? Let’s just call the police already!” Lin Tianzhen also said urgently.

Su Jin looked somewhat guilty and said to everyone, “The things… I took them all… ”

The living room fell silent, only Nie Qing, Li Xiuying, and Lu Guanhai did not look too surprised, while everyone else appeared shocked but relieved.

Emma, it wasn’t stolen! That scared me to death!

“Hold on, Su Jin, when did you move all that stuff?” Lin Xiuyuan asked, still shaken.

“Last night, Lu Hao and I went there together,”

“How many people did you two hire? You moved everything in one night?” Mao Zhihang asked, puzzled. Now that the stuff was safe, he was relieved.

“By the way, Xiao Jin, where did you put everything? Wasn’t it fine where it was?” Su Xiangzhe also asked.

“Yeah, Xiao Jin, why didn’t you tell us beforehand? You nearly gave me a heart attack!” Huang Yunxiang said, her eyes still red…

“Sorry, I was planning to tell everyone tonight. I didn’t expect you to find out so soon, hehe.”

“You girl, you’re still laughing. You moved everything without letting us help, and kept it a secret from us,” Mrs. Su said, still frightened but also a bit angry. What was this girl up to?

“Should we wait for Lu Hao to come back and take you to see the stuff?” Su Jin said cautiously, afraid of being scolded again.

“Why wait for that boy? Let’s go see it now,” Lu Guanhai suddenly suggested.

Inside? Where’s that?

Everyone turned to look at Lu Guanhai, who evidently already knew. No wonder you were so calm just now.

“Old Lu, so you knew all along, then why didn’t you tell us just now?” Su Xiangzhe asked, feigning anger.

“I, I was afraid my son and daughter-in-law would scold me.”

Lu Guanhai said in a pitifully aggrieved tone, like a wronged little wife.

Su Xiangzhe suddenly felt a bit reluctant to blame him, realizing that as an elder, he really didn’t have much standing.

“Alright, I’ll take you to see it now,”

Su Jin decided. Since Lu Guanhai had spoken up and she and Lu Hao had planned to lay their cards on the table today anyway, it was just a little bit earlier than planned.

“Girl, are you saying people can go into your storage bag?”

Nie Qing asked incredulously. He knew Su Jin had Storage Space, but he had always thought it functioned like his storage bag, just with much more space. He never imagined it could fit not only livestock but also people!

This girl is really defying the heavens, isn’t she?!

The family looked puzzledly at Su Jin. Take them to see? Where, exactly? Could Xiao Jin also have a warehouse?

“Xiuyuan, go and check if all the doors are closed and make sure all the curtains are drawn,” Li Xiuying commanded. Now that her granddaughter had decided, she felt it improper to interfere anymore.

Originally, she had wanted the family to experience the true Apocalypse before letting Xiao Jin tell them about this, but over the past half a month, she had seen their efforts and unity and believed that as long as they were together, they could overcome any difficulty.

Lin Xiuyuan didn’t understand why it had to be so secretive, but knowing it was important, he dutifully locked the doors and windows and drew the curtains.

The family watched Lin Xiuyuan lock the front door, close the windows, draw the curtains, and then they all looked at Su Jin, still utterly baffled.

What’s all this for?

“Xiao Jin, what is this?”

Before Lin Cheng could speak, a palm-sized Jade Block appeared in Su Jin’s hand, which she then placed in the middle of the table. The family stared bafflingly at the block.

“Dad, Grandma, could you demonstrate?” Su Jin asked Lu Guanhai and Li Xiuying.

Lu Guanhai and Granny nodded. Lu Guanhai even whispered something mysteriously into Mao Qiqi’s ear, and her eyes lit up instantly after hearing it.

Grandpa Lu knows magic? And he’s going to teach her? How wonderful!

Then, Li Xiuying and Lu Guanhai vanished right before everyone’s eyes.

The living room fell silent.

“What’s going on, where’s your Grandma?” Lin Yunguo rubbed his eyes—surely he wasn’t dreaming?

“If you drop a drop of your blood onto this Jade slip, you’ll see Grandma right away,” said Su Jin, spreading her fingers, from which several leaf-shaped blades appeared, sharp as knives.

“Use this, prick yourself—it’s sanitary…”

Su Jin distributed the leaves to everyone, truly finding the Special Ability-produced leaves quite handy for pricking her finger.

“Girl, are you talking about blood recognition as the master?”

Nie Qing was surprised to find such a magic treasure still existed in this world.

“Yes, Uncle Nie, I discovered it by chance,” Su Jin nodded and replied.

“Sister Xiao Jin, can I go too?” Mao Qiqi asked, looking frightened yet hopeful.

“Qiqi, of course you can. Are you scared?” Su Jin asked with a smile.

“I’m not scared. Mommy said we all have to be brave and strong, or we’ll be eaten by monsters,” Mao Qiqi declared, taking a leaf from Su Jin’s hand and looking resolutely at everyone.

“Ha, our Qiqi has really become brave,” Mao Zhihang said, patting her head.
