Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 160: New Visitors

"Torn Eardrum?" Shane frowned after seeing this item being looted. He certainly had no interest in the eardrum of the Screamer Zombie, but it must have a value since it could be obtained from them. He also guessed that its drop rate wouldn\'t be very high compared to others.

\'It must be an alchemy ingredient or something. I\'ll let Anna handle it.\' Shane mused.

Since Anna had now possessed the skill related to Alchemy and Potion Brewing, she might be able to help him take care of it.

Anyway, Shane continued looting the other 10 Screamer Zombies and got a few more new items and of course, he also checked their description in the Inventory.

[ Loots obtained: Item Upgrade Crystal x2, Zombie Core x2, 500mL Water, Unknown Meat ( Safe ) x1, 100mL Screamer Zombie Blood, Spirit Enhancement Bottle x1, Discordant Harmonica x1 ]

While the Silent Bell was capable of producing a soundless chime that disrupts mystical attacks, the Discordant Harmonica could be used to play haunting melodies that affect the emotions of listeners.

After this loot, he obtained a Silent Amulet that could emit a dampening field, capable of reducing the intensity of sound attacks in a small area around the wearer.

Then, the eight remaining items were actually Whispering Cloaks!

After checking the item description in his Inventory, Shane was elated!

It was a cloak made from the hide of the Screamer Zombies that absorbs sound waves, reducing the impact of incoming sound attacks!

There were also eight of them in this group, so it was perfect for them!

The group marveled at the eerie yet intricate appearance of the cloaks.

"It\'s really made from their hide…" Shane muttered as he felt a bit disgusted wearing these cloaks if he thinks about the grotesque forms of those Screamer Zombies. They were surely not pleasing to the eye.

However, their effects were incredible, and with the addition of the Silent Amulet in his hands, they would have no problem facing the attacks of the Screamer Zombies! In the end, he decided to take the lead and wear them.

Even the elves hesitated for a bit after learning the origin of the cloaks, but after seeing Shane wearing them, they could only grit their teeth and follow his lead.

Shinja also did the same, as it surprisingly fit his size like a magic.

However, the Monk shook his head.

"I don\'t have to wear it, Sir Shane… I am capable of enduring those noises they could make. It can be part of my training too." Chaloem suddenly said as he refused to wear the cloak.

Well, he was indeed able to endure the attack and even send a few Ki shockwaves to the Zombies… Shane had no doubt that the Monk would not be in trouble.

Anyway, each cloak was a dark shade of midnight black, with wrinkles along the fabric that seemed to pulse in response to surrounding sounds.

The inner lining was a deep crimson, reminiscent of blood, adding to the unsettling yet protective nature of the cloaks. There were also engravings etched in silver thread that adorned the hems of the cloaks.

After Shane confirmed that the cloaks were also draped around the shoulders of his team, except the Monk, the group finally ventured deeper into the abandoned mining site.

\'It\'s cool…\' Shane mused as he realized that the Whispering Cloaks were also absorbing the echoes of their footsteps and the distant rumblings of the underground tunnels.

Meanwhile, outside the mining site, in a clearing not far from Elsa and Lily\'s treehouse camp, a scene of chaos unfolded.

A female archer, her black hair streaming behind her in the wind, sprinted across the clearing with complete haste.

Her emerald eyes blazed with determination as she notched an arrow, aiming it at one of the lumbering Tyrant Zombies that pursued her!

"Shit! Why are there Tyrant Zombies around here?! Are we still far from him?!" The woman shouted.

Beside her, a scholarly man with spectacles perched on his nose stumbled over the uneven ground, clutching a leather-bound tome to his chest. His scholarly robes billowed around him, his clothes were frayed and stained with dust from their frantic flight.

Despite his scholarly appearance, his eyes held a fierce intelligence, scanning their surroundings for any possible escape route.

Twang!

The female archer released an arrow with incredible accuracy, striking the Tyrant Zombie in its rotting chest with a resounding thud.

The creature was hit and staggered back, but it wasn\'t enough!

The Tyrant Zombie emitted a long and loud growl that reverberated through the clearing! The scholarly man fumbled with his tome, muttering incantations under his breath as he attempted to conjure a protective barrier against the relentless advance of the second Tyrant Zombie.

This was the item he had purchased in the Market Bazaar at the previous auction event!

Whoom~

As the scholarly man\'s incantations finished, a shimmering barrier materialized around him, deflecting the attacks of the Zombie.

At the same time, one of the pages of the tome had also disappeared.

Beads of sweat dripped down his forehead as he poured every ounce of his Spirit Points into maintaining the protective shield.

Meanwhile, the female archer swiftly notched another arrow, her emerald eyes remained focused as she took aim at the vulnerable spot on the undead creature.

Twang!

With a fluid motion, she released the arrow, and it hit the eye of the Tyrant Zombie, causing it to recoil in agony, buying them a precious moment of respite.

"Ugh! Why did these special zombies appear now that we\'re about to reach Shane?! We even traveled the whole night!" She shouted in frustration as she saw the Zombie still alive. If they weren\'t tired and were able to prepare several traps, they were certain that they could kill this Tyrant Zombie.

However, they didn\'t have that luxury as these Tyrant Zombies came out of nowhere.

"Don\'t worry… The map says that the Clan Leader is near… I\'m sure we\'ll be fine."
