Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 140: Attacks!

Nonetheless, despite its sharpness, there was a moment of resistance from its muscles…

It was like a test of will between the living and the undead…

However, Lucas hadn\'t given his all yet!

With a roar, his blade broke through, silencing the abomination\'s heart!

Lucas stood amidst the carnage, the Master-Grade Blade dripping with the blood of the zombie. His chest heaved as he fought to catch his breath, and his eyes also started scanning the orchard for any further threats.

Whom~

At this time, the Sentinel Sphere\'s energy also waned, its job done, and Mr. Wadsworth stepped forward, his own face showing relief and admiration.

"You\'ve done well, Lucas…" The butler said with a smile, his voice steady despite the adrenaline that coursed through them both.

"Do you know what type of Zombie they are?" Mr. Wadsworth asked.

"Yes… It\'s said I eliminated a Violent Leaper Zombie… I don\'t plan to loot it yet since they look special. I will let Sir Shane loot them instead. It shouldn\'t be that long before he returns…" Lucas replied.

"You\'re right… Sir Shane\'s looting ability is unmatched. I heard he could loot everything he could."

"That\'s indeed amazing… How\'s the battle in front?"

"It\'s already done… However, we can\'t be too complacent yet. For now, let\'s wait for the Bulwark Beacon to be reactivated, as I already instructed Anna to replace the Power Cores." Mr. Wadsworth said as Shane left him five of the Power Cores in their possession.

Although the Bulwark Beacon requires 7 Power Cores, it would still work with 5 Power Cores, but the duration of the barrier it could create would be shorter by a considerable degree.

***

After some time, the estate\'s Bulwark Barrier hummed back to life, its renewed energy pulsing through the air as the Power Cores were slotted into place.

The fallen Jumper Zombies, now lifeless husks, were dragged to the training ground, a grim harvest awaiting Shane\'s return.

Indeed. Shane will loot all of them later on.

As the time passed and the sun started casting long shadows across the land, a new threat loomed.

A group of ten, led by a man known as Stroud, with an Exceptional Grade talent called Aura Master, approached the estate with malevolent intent.

The scouts of his team had actually noticed the traces of numerous Jumper Zombies attacking a certain area… These scouts had then investigated and seen the aftermath of the battle and smelled opportunity in the air.

Stroud, a tall figure with blue eyes that seemed to pierce throught the disguise of the surroundings, surveyed the estate with his Danger Sense, a Survival Skill that he had recently learned.

"The place is riddled with traps…" He whispered to his cohorts.

"But the main gate… it\'s clear." He added.

His voice was a low growl and he couldn\'t help but feel excited after discovering this.

Well, it would make sense if the main gate was clear since the people in the estate would regularly use this area, so setting a trap in this part could endanger them if they weren\'t careful.

Stroud then looked at the members of his group who had discovered this hidden stronghold of Survivors.

They were his two scouts. One of them had a Rare Talent called Lesser Invisibility. It allowed him to move unseen in a short duration. The other one was a lean figure with True Enhanced Senses Talent that was perfect for locating targets or enemies.

"The Main Gate is indeed clear… We can go in with brute force."

"Yes… We just have to be mindful of the crossbow and the gunners of the stronghold. Well, from what we heard, they were just pistols, and there are probably only two Survivors there with guns."

The two scouts reported respectively.

"Guns, huh…" Stroud then looked at one of his strongest members, Max.

He was a hulking brute with veins like steel cables… Seeing their leader\'s gaze, he flexed his fists—his talent, Warrior, made him a juggernaut in human form!

If not for the fact that his talent would only manifest fully after reaching level 10, he would\'ve been included in the top 1,000 and joined the Regional Auction Event.

Unfortunately, it hadn\'t been long since he reached level 10, so he wasn\'t able to become part of the rankers.

Seeing that Max was ready, he looked at his other companion.

"Layla, support Max as always." Stroud said to the only woman in the group and also his woman.

Layla actually has a Master-Grade Talent called Telekinesis…

She already expected this instruction and nodded softly.

Currently, her eyes were closed in concentration… She then levitated small stones around her as if to check her current skills before canceling them.

"I can\'t stop all the bullets… However, if I have a clear sight of the shooter, I can do something about it." She said with confidence.

After their plan was made, they immediately checked their equipment and started moving out of their hidden spot.

As they moved, their footsteps were silent as they were all equipped with the same scavenger shoes that could lessen the noise they were making.

The watchtower, a sentinel of the estate, would still see them in a few moments, but they were undeterred.

Before that happens, they rush to the wooden gate of the stronghold!

With Max in front, who could tank a certain amount of bullets, and Layla, who could stop bullets with her incredible Talent, they didn\'t have anything to be afraid of as they were certain of their victory!

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Soon, their movements became faster and their presence was finally sensed by the person on top of the watchtower!

As they reached the main gate, Stroud raised his hand, and the air around him shimmered with power. "We will take this stronghold today!" He declared, his Aura Master talent activated as his sword radiated an invisible force that bolstered his allies.

A couple of his members also pointed their guns at the watchtower and fired at it!
