My Lady, To Defeat Scumbags You Must Start Early

Chapter 194 - 194: 192: Ji Baijian with Strong Possessiveness

Chapter 194 - 194: 192: Ji Baijian with Strong Possessiveness

Ji Baijian, Song Zhizhi, and Luo Xiaolang all ate two large bowls of porridge.

Luo Xiaolang praised without hesitation, “This is the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. Thank you.”

Yan Zhen laughed, “You’re welcome.”

Song Zhizhi agreed, “I thought you were a doctor, I didn’t expect you to be such a good cook”

“A woman of many talents.” Yan Zhen was cheerful and even made jokes. “The same hands are used when handling bodies.” Ji Baijian suddenly spoke.

Song Zhizhi turned to look at him, “Are you jealous?”

“That’s a fact.” Yan Zhen said, “But I prefer the touch of dead bodies.”

“…” Song Zhizhi was speechless.

Are all of Ji Baijian’s friends a bunch of weirdos?

“It’s getting late, I should go.” Yan Zhen cleaned up the bowls and chopsticks, put them into the dishwasher, and wiped her hands. “I’ll come over tonight to give you an inflammation injection.”

“Okay.”

And just like that, Yan Zhen left.

Song Zhizhi helped Ji Baijian to the living room sofa.

Luo Xiaolang, having eaten and drunk her fill, sat on the sofa watching TV.

Luo Xiaolang was becoming more accustomed to this lifestyle, playing with the electronic devices here, getting used to the bustling streets, and even finding the food here more to her liking than that at the Wulin Temple.

Seeing Luo Xiaolang comfortably watching TV, Song Zhizhi didn’t disturb her and turned to Ji Baijian, “Do you want to go back to your room and lie down?”

“Do you want to lie down?” Ji Baijian raised an eyebrow.

“I’m talking about you.” Song Zhizhi retorted impatiently. “I thought you wanted to lie down, and I could accompany you.”

“…” Did she look so dissatisfied?

“By the way, I want to show you something.” Ji Baijian changed the subject.

Song Zhizhi frowned.

Ji Baijian said, “Can you get my cell phone from my room?”

Song Zhizhi nodded, went to Ji Baijian’s room and brought out the cell phone.

“The passcode is my birthday.” Ji Baijian said.

Song Zhizhi looked at the screen, a little dazed.

Who the hell knows when your birthday is.

Ji Baijian raised his eyebrows, “Don’t know?”

Well, no shit.

Did she need to remember and embarrass herself like this?

“It seems you don’t know.” Ji Baijian murmured, looking at Song Zhizhi’s expression. His tone made Song Zhizhi feel like she had done something terribly wrong to Ji Baijian.

She tried to retaliate, “Then do you know when my birthday is?”

“August 15, XX year.” Ji Baijian answered.

Alright then.

She was completely embarrassed now.

She had no idea that Ji Baijian would know.

She didn’t remember ever telling him.

“Who would set their own birthday as the password?” Song Zhizhi deliberately said.

“Huh

“Usually, it’s set as the other’s birthday.” Song Zhizhi argued forcefully.

“Oh.” Ji Baijian answered.

Song Zhizhi asked, “What’s your password? I’ll set mine the same.”

A smile appeared at the corner of Ji Baijian’s mouth.

This girl was clever, and emotionally clever, too.

Ji Baijian said, “It’s xx0708.”

So Ji Baijian was born on July 8th. Okay, she would remember that.

“I’m in.” Song Zhizhi said.

Ji Baijian nodded, “Now open my WeChat.”

“Okay.”

“Check the messages that Yan Zhen sent me.”

“Okay.”

“Open the last video in the messages.”

Song Zhizhi followed the instructions one by one.

The video started playing.

The video showed when her father was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. At that moment, Nie Wenzhi was inside the ICU. Nie Wenzhi was sitting by her father’s bed, appearing to whisper something to him.

Although the voice should have been very soft, she could hear every word clearly right now.

She could hear every word that Nie Wenzhi said to her father.

Was this what Ji Baijian meant when he said that actions left traces?

She had not thought that far.

Ji Baijian explained, “This is a video that I had Uncle Yan, Yan Zhen’s father, downloaded from the hospital’s surveillance for me. The sound has been amplified. You can listen to what Nie Wenzhi said to your father. Listen carefully.”

Song Zhizhi swallowed hard.

She listened very carefully and watched very carefully.

She heard Nie Wenzhi say… ‘Husband, you have no idea how afraid I am, how scared, scared that you’ll … recover.’

‘From the day I married you, I’ve been looking forward to this day.’

Your passionately loved wife didn’t die in a simple car accident. I arranged it all.

The training from when I was young taught me that even for a dead person, no secrets should be revealed…

Song Zhizhi’s eyes were red and the hand holding the phone was shaking.

She stared fiercely at the video, at Nie Wenzhi cozied up to her father’s shoulder, whispering sweet nothings in his ear. To anyone who saw this seemingly sweet moment, no one would have known the truly vicious things Nie Wenzhi was saying. Song Zhizhi even wondered if the Nie Wenzhi from her previous life had done the same to her father.

In her previous life, her father really had become a vegetable due to cerebral hemorrhage. In every moment where she saw Nie Wenzhi visiting her father, speaking sweetly in his ear, was Nie Wenzhi actually saying such cruel things?

Her lips were tightly pressed together.

Even worse, Nie Wenzhi had confessed that her mother’s car accident was not an ordinary one, but one that she had arranged!

She had never thought that her mother was killed by Nie Wenzhi, until this moment, this moment…

Nie Wenzhi truly deserved to die!

She deserved to die!

“Don’t cry.” Ji Baijian suddenly spoke.

Song Zhizhi suppressed her emotions.

Yes.

Don’t cry.

Now, she was the victor.

Or at least the victor of this stage.

If Nie Wenzhi could be so cruel to her father for so many years, she could do the same thing back.

Song Zhizhi took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. She asked, “What did Nie Wenzhi mean by training since childhood?”

“Clever girl.” Ji Baijian seemed to be praising her.

Song Zhizhi asked earnestly, “So, was Nie Wenzhi being controlled by someone?”

“I speculate that she was,” Ji Baijian nodded in agreement.

Earlier in the morning, Ji Baijian had asked Yan Zhen to obtain a video from his father. Ji Baijian wanted to see if he could decipher any clues. He was well aware of the fact that Nie Wenzhi incurred severe burn injuries, which were life-threatening. Moreover, even if she lived, it wasn’t certain that they could get any useful information out of her. Therefore, the only option left was to uncover the truth themselves.

While enduring the pain of having his wounds treated and bandaged, Ji Baijian watched the video repeatedly.

Eventually, he arrived at a conclusion similar to Song Zhizhi’s.

However, he knew a bit more than Song Zhizhi. He said, “The Corpse Organization that we often talk about is a very mysterious underground organization. As per the legends, they undertake any job if they are paid well. However, in reality, not many have encountered them. Rumor has it in the underworld that once you cross paths with them, your chances of surviving are slim.”

Song Zhizhi quietly listened to Ji Baijian’s analysis.

“That’s why the Corpse Organization carries a lot of weight in the underworld and is known to almost everyone.”

“Do you suspect Nie Wenzhi is also part of the Corpse Organization?”

“I can’t guarantee it, but Nie Wenzhi is skilled.” Ji Baijian said, “When you observe her fight against Yin Qin, you can see that although Yin Qin is a Taekwondo black belt third stage and a ninth stage in mixed martial arts, he didn’t have much of an advantage in the fight. In fact, he was mostly on the defensive. To be fair, Yin Qin doesn’t have much real-life combat experience, so it’s possible he got cold feet. However, I can assert for sure that Nie Wenzhi is not an average person.”

“Raised and trained by someone, possessing basic combat skills as well as extreme strategic acumen, and capable of infiltrating for so many years despite her internal resistance…” The more Song Zhizhi thought about it, the more horrified she became.

“Hence, it’s not an individual but an organization, and a well -prepared organization at that, which has been targeting your family.”

“But why us? What is their objective?” Song Zhizhi looked at Ji Baijian, “Do they want my father’s power? But his power is merely one out of the four major leaders. It’s not like he has absolute control! I just can’t figure out why that organization would target the Song family.”

Ji Baijian seemed to fall silent for a moment.

Song Zhizhi looked at him.

Ji Baijian didn’t speak for quite some time.

“Do you know something?” Song Zhizhi asked.

Ji Baijian said, “I don’t know. Only when we figure out the objective of the underground organization, can we generate reasonable hypotheses.”

“But when will we find that out?”

Ji Baijian couldn’t assure her with a definitive answer, but he asserted, “I will always protect you.”

Song Zhizhi was feeling overwhelmed but tried her best to remain calm.

Yes.

Even if they had “killed” Nie Wenzhi, they wouldn’t have any clues against the mastermind. Song Zhizhi was beginning to refute her initial assumption that it was someone from the Commercial Management organization. The shadowy figure controlling everything, seemed too powerful. No one from the Commercial Management organization had the capacity to pull this off.

“Ji Baijian.” Song Zhizhi stared at him.

“Hmm.” Ji Baijian’s gaze met hers. “In this world, you’re the only one I trust.”

Ji Baijian smiled, “Okay.”

With that response, he was promising her that he would never lie to her.

Song Zhizhi lowered her head and gently leaned towards Ji Baijian’s shoulder.

She only leaned in, not against.

She was worried that she might hurt him.

She had always thought that being reborn, and having the advantage of hindsight, made her invincible. However, at this moment she felt vulnerable and desperately in need of support. She didn’t know how far she could have come without Ji Baijian’s constant support.

“We have another important matter to deal with,” Ji Baijian gently said aloud, his voice echoing above her head,

“What is it?” asked Song Zhizhi.

“It’s about the wedding,” Ji Baijian said.

Song Zhizhi was momentarily taken aback.

She’d almost forgotten that their wedding day was approaching fast.

“We were actually supposed to take our wedding photos yesterday,” Ji Baijian said.

Indeed.

Plans have a tendency to unravel when confronted by reality. “I’ve rescheduled it for Saturday, next week,” Ji Baijian added. “You already rescheduled it so soon?” “I knew you’d be busy this week, so I requested a postponement.”

“I’m sorry, ” Song Zhizhi said apologetically.

“Waiting for you,” Ji Baijian began in his pleasing and magnetic voice, “is worth any amount of time.”

Whoever said that Ji Baijian wasn’t good at sweet talking was totally wrong.

The sweet words Ji Baijian spoke were amongst the best in the world.

She told him, “I really want to marry you.” Ji Baijian laughed.

“I don’t want to wait another second.”

Ji Baijian’s laughter grew more apparent. “I love you.”

Ji Baijian’s laughter suddenly froze.

His cheek lightly brushed against her soft, long hair.

Yeah.

I love you too.

Both of them remained entwined in each other’s arms.

Luo Xiaolang, who was watching from the side, didn’t find the situation at all awkward.

It felt like she was watching a TV show which aired plenty of similar romantic scenes that she had gotten used to.

The television show happening before her eyes now, however, was somewhat boring. She casually placed the remote on the sofa, got up, and left the living room altogether.

Her departure didn’t disturb the couple’s intimate moment.

If not for the stiffness in her neck from leaning into the air, Song Zhizhi could have continued with the difficult task of leaning towards him.

She had to pull away from his shoulder.

Suddenly she asked, “Had I met Yan Zhen previously?”

“Yes, you met him once when you asked me to help check if there was something wrong with your father’s milk,” he replied.

“Oh, no wonder,” said Song Zhizhi.

“Why did you ask about him?”

“Am I not supposed to ask about him?” Song Zhizhi looked at Ji Baijian.

“Don’t like it, ” he responded.

Song Zhizhi had no comeback. Ji Baijian seemed overly possessive! But she decided to push further and ask, “How did you and Yan Zhen meet?”

“By accident,” Ji Baijian replied while visibly displeased.

“What lüld of accident?”

“We both studied abroad,” he responded.

“Like Yin Qin?”

“I knew Yin Qin from here. We grew up together.”

“Do you have any other friends?” Song Zhizhi always felt that Ji Baijian’s life was a mystery and likewise the people around him too seemed unusual.

Yin Qin might act silly and appear foolish when it came to matters of the heart, yet there was nothing ordinary about him.

“No others,” Ji Baijian replied.

“Any female friends?” Song Zhizhi asked with a sense of mischief.

She was sure that Ji Baijian would not have any.

This man was too… conservative, to have any female friends.

“I used to have one.”

What?!

Song Zhizhi’s eyes widened in surprise..
