The Unique Guardian Beast Master in Cultivation World

Chapter 385 - 242: No Hope for Achievement in This Life, Let’s Enter Nirvana! _2

“The venerable one need not worry, as the monk Yinghai has received the Six Realms Reincarnation Inheritance. Reincarnation cultivation could be a great opportunity for him.”

Spoke Fayuan, trying to comfort him.

Yinghai, whose eyes had grown dull and lifeless, glanced at his radiant, dignified fellow-disciple, the Buddha’s son, then slowly lowered his gaze.

He had initially thought of him as a counterpart. After all, they had once competed for the position of the Buddha’s son. However, it now seems that this was only his laughable speculation.

In just a few short years since he had departed, even his own Master had been won over by his fellow disciple’s views, persuaded by a few simple words to let him pass away in Nirvana. And his own Master had merely agreed after a brief inquiry.

Is this Buddha’s son just a part of their Heavenly Dragon Zen Institute? Is he not a reincarnation of Buddha himself? Otherwise, why would his Master agree so readily to let him pass away in Nirvana, and even persuade him toward this course from the start?

“Thank you, Buddha’s son.”

The venerable Cien gave his thanks once again.

Yinghai stood still, though he had begun to understand some things. However, he found it difficult to express gratitude toward someone who wanted him to reincarnate and start cultivation all over again.

The main controversy over reincarnation lies in the loss of memory. Even if the True Spirit is unique, could the reincarnated body really have a connection to this life? Could it really be called the same person?

After reincarnation, there would no longer be the monk Yinghai in this world. The one who returns might be named Fahai or Yinghai, but regardless of the name he would bear, it would have no relation to his present self.

All the cultivation he has accumulated till now, including his memories, will be lost when he passes away in Nirvana, leaving only a trace of his True Spirit to enter the cycle of reincarnation.

“Let’s go!”

After finishing his expression of gratitude, the venerable Cien gestured, ready to grasp his disoriented pupil, who appeared to have lost his soul, and bring him back to his Zen Temple.

“Honorable fellow-disciple, I wish to follow your advice and enter Nirvana, reincarnate and experience the cycle of rebirth. However, there is still an obsession I cannot relinquish. I beg for your assistance.”

Suddenly, it was as if Yinghai had thought of something. His eyes showed a glimmer of light as he knelt abruptly and paid respects to the white-robed Buddha’s son seated on the Bright Platform throne.

“What is your lingering attachment? Is it about the matter of the Nan Hua Continent?”

A smile appeared on Fayuan’s face.

“You are very perceptive, fellow-disciple. It is indeed about the Nan Hua Continent. I beg for your assistance…”

At this moment, the figure that appeared in Yinghai’s mind was none other than Feng Qing’an. Even the monk, who was already prepared for Nirvana, remained resentful towards the reincarnated Immortal Monarch associated with demons and spirits.

“For such cause and effect, I already know. Junior Brother, there is no need for you to worry. The time is not yet ripe. When the time is right, I will go to Nan Hua Continent.”

Fayuan promised Yinghai without letting him finish his words. His tone was deep and unfathomable. Though he did not ask, he seemed to know everything that had happened to Yinghai.

“Thank you, fellow-disciple!”

Hearing Fayuan’s promise, Yinghai felt a weight lifting off his heart. He looked much more relaxed and soothed, his countenance previously filled with resentment and anger gradually calming.

“Master, I have failed your expectations in this life. I will repay your kindness in nurturing me in my next life.”

“Yinghai!”

The elderly white-browed monk attempted to lift his hand to stop him, but Yinghai had already made up his mind. He put on his blue Kasaya and held the Nine Dragon Bronze Staff in one hand while supporting the Purple Gold Bowl in the other. This was his image when he traveled among mortals.

At that moment, a blazing fire lit up in his eyes, soon engulfing his entire body. Amidst the roaring fire, neither the Kasaya nor the staff were damaged. Only Yinghai’s flesh and blood gradually faded to nothingness in the flames.

Roar——

A majestic and sweeping dragon chant resounded, reaching high into the sky. A golden dragon form soared out of the blazing fire, pierced unimpeded through the dome of the treasure hall, and circled in the vault of heaven. After circling once, the intersecting halo of the Six Paths, mystical and elusive, manifested in the sky. The illusory golden dragon plunged into the halo and disappeared in an instant, leaving everyone clueless as to where it had gone.

As the dragon disappeared, the burning flames in the treasure hall also began to die down. In their place stood a gold skeleton, draped in a Kasaya, holding a copper staff, and lifting a Purple Gold Bowl.

“Amitabha!”

Chanting resonated through the treasure hall. Numerous monks and nuns bid farewell to their newly-matured peer, chanting scriptures for his passing. It was truly a lamentable sight to see someone of such an age parting with this world and choosing reincarnation.

“Is this the Six Realms Reincarnation Inheritance you recovered from that bald skull’s soul? Are you pulling my leg?”

On the sixth layer of Nine Lifes Cave World, the ground was covered in molten lava, with tempestuous winds and flashes of thunder all around. In an environment that was even worse than purgatory, someone dared to defy it, stepping amidst the storm, engulfed in thunder, challenging a gargantuan creature with a scathing question.

“Master, I truly can’t be blamed. Who knew those baldies would be so cunning and mess with their souls? I was very cautious, but still got tricked.

It drew the attention of the old bald head, but thankfully due to your, my master’s awesome might, just showing your face was enough to scare off the old monk. Otherwise, I would have really been in trouble.”

A skull as huge as a mountain looked at Feng Qing’an from various directions. The snake-like and dragon-like head was full of flattery and servitude.

The entity knew everything that had transpired in the Cave Sky, even the tiniest details. The moment the Buddhist monk had torn through the void and made his fierce move, there was a terrifying force capable of destroying the earth.

However, when the Human Race’s Master – himself – showed his face, the monk immediately backed down, showing no further intention of fighting.

Under what circumstances would a mighty individual abruptly stop fighting? Especially when their tortuously mistreated disciple was involved? How could they not save face?

The answer was naturally clear. There stood an even more formidable and invincible existence behind the opponent that would make them cautious. Even in their furious rage, they had to forcibly bear their defeat, accepting humiliation to save the greater good.

“You’ve spent a thousand years amongst the Human Race, and it seems like you’ve learned how to flatter people quite well. However, don’t chatter with me about all this. I just want to know, you said you wanted to grab the baldy’s Six Paths Reincarnation inheritance – but what exactly have you grabbed? Are you even sure you understand what it is?”

Feng Qing’an looked at the results shown to him by the spirit of the Cave Sky, complaining and grumbling.

The inheritance related to the Six Paths of Reincarnation wasn’t recorded in some special text or unique pattern. It was an unspoken understanding, a divine intent that could only be perceived but never verbally transmitted.

To put it simply, if you understood, you understood – if you didn’t, then that’s it. There’s no use trying to explain it, and there’s no point asking any further. The true meaning contained within it was simply impossible to describe in human language.

“I can barely comprehend a part but still find some parts unclear.”

The Spirit of Cave Sky replied with a smile. Naturally, what it showed Feng Qing’an was the part it could understand. As for the parts it didn’t understand, there was no need to mention those.

In other words, this entity had created such big trouble, but the Six Realms Reincarnation Inheritance it gained was incomplete.

The key issue was even the part it did understand was difficult to teach to Feng Qing’an. As the entity itself barely understood it, let alone teaching it to someone else.

“So now you’re telling me that you’ve stirred up this huge mess for me, what use is this Six Paths inheritance you’ve obtained? If you can’t explain this to me, hrm.”

Feng Qing’an gave a cold snort, the implications clear.

“Perhaps I could adjust the structure of the Cave Sky to evolve focusing on the Six Paths of Reincarnation? Maybe this could allow the Cave Sky to self-repair?”

When it spoke these words, there was a hint of uncertainty in the Cave Sky Spirit’s voice.

“Self-repair? Does that mean it won’t need my help?”

Feng Qing’an’s eyes narrowed slightly.

“Of course, we will still need your assistance, Master. Aren’t you planning to go to the underworld? That might be the perfect opportunity. How about creating a mini Hungry Ghost Path here?”
