The Unique Guardian Beast Master in Cultivation World

Chapter 50 - 50: Messenger of the Mountain God

After nine days and nights at the territory of a powerful demon, Heishan, who was leading the wolves, returned comfortably to relax on a large flat rock, lazily basking under the sun.

Although Heishan seemed lazy and contented, in reality, it was adapting to the explosion of power within it from consuming a large quantity of Spirit Fruit. In just a few days, it had gained years of power that a typical demon beast would accumulate over a century.

Whether it was its body size or the Demon Qi that it generated from its flesh and bones, both had increased exponentially in a short period. Using the Ghost-eye Wolf King for comparison, Heishan felt that once it fully adapted, it wouldn’t need any backup and could even take on the king in a fight.

Growl-

While lying on the rock and slowly adapting to its newfound demonic power, Heishan suddenly became alert. It emitted an intimidating growl, fixing its gaze on a part of the ground not far from its rocky bed.

With the wolf king’s alert, wolves who were either playing around or discussing the origin of life on the mountaintop, all stopped their actions. Following their king’s gaze, they stared at that particular spot as well.

Under the wolves’ scrutiny, the seemingly ordinary ground began to rise slightly before it suddenly cracked, and then a short old man emerged from the soil.

As the small old man appeared, a rich fragrance of grass and trees filled the air instantly. The eyes of the wolf pack who were spread out all around instantly changed, and they began slathering and gathering closer involuntarily.

“Wolf demon, restrain your kin! I’m here under the decree of the Mountain god. If you dare harm me, that’s an offense to the Mountain god, and you’ll all meet a disastrous end!”

The small old man was covered in green grass, appearing seven-tenths human upon a glance. But a closer look would reveal the non-human traits. His stern expression, however, was loud and clear.

No matter how it was heard, his voice seemed to lack genuine fortitude, making him appear extremely unsure of himself.

Growl-

Though the old man in front looked considerably human, Heishan could see the difference between them. The thing hanging from its chest seemed like a root system of sorts, and the grass on its head spoke for itself.

More importantly, even though Heishan had already consumed a lot of Spirit Fruit, it could still sense a strong temptation from the little old man, making it want to devour him.

But Heishan suppressed this impulse, turning its head to roar at wolves on both sides, using its royal authority to make them back off, keeping them from offending the tantalizing little old man.

Because it had just heard how this small old man defined himself.

An emissary of the Mountain god!

Hence, Heishan stared at the little old man, its expression very careful.

Its spiritual wisdom had noticeably improved, and even though it had only met a ghost deity, it had a vague idea of what the Mountain god meant to it. “Wolf demon, receive the decree of the Mountain god!”

Seeing this unusually young demon beast showing such discretion, the old man’s expression became somewhat more settled. Shouted louder, he seemed firmer.

Heishan slightly narrowed its eyes, danger flashing within. Even though the

Mountain god was an existence too superior for it to look up to currently, the mocking expression of this minor creature, waving the name of the Mountain god in its face, was way too disrespectful of it.

But before Heishan could make any moves, an awe-inspiring green divine light rose from the creature’s body. The pressure it exerted, which seemed like the weight of multiple mountains toppling over, not only silenced Heishan but also all the insects and birds within a ten-mile radius.

“Wolf demon, receive the decree!”

Under the majestic aura of the Mountain god, the small old man, who was not affected in the slightest, appeared even more confident. He was somewhat excited, this was the first time he was delivering the Mountain god’s decree.

Because the Mountain god told him that only he could deliver this decree, none of the others could, not even the major demons.

Following his yell, beneath the Mountain god’s pressure, Heishan, who felt as if it had been trapped in amber, finally regained some control over its body.

When it raised its head, it saw divine light rising towards the sky and converging into a luminescent scale that looked like it had been carved from blue jade. This scale hovered in front of its face and then landed gently.

“The decree of the Mountain god has been delivered, this minorservant shall retreat!”

The moment the divine light solidified into a Blue Scale, the creature resembling an old man turned into a wisp of smoke disappearing into the earth.

Heishan did not try to chase but focused all its attention on the Blue Scale in front of it.

It sensed a breath of energy and, in response, it saw a colossal dragon-snake sprawled across the towering mountain, its broad and immense body coiled around half of the mountain. The overwhelming oppression coming face-to-face, made it feel a bit choked up. Even though it had already broken free of a layer of shackles, it still felt incredibly insignificant.

Heishan’s violent emotional upheaval also startled Feng Qing’an, who was attending Master Zhang’s lecture at the school in the village.

Although he was curious about what had happened to Heishan in the mountains, causing it to react so drastically, upon confirming that there was no imminent danger, he decided to wait till Master Zhang finished his lecture.

During recess, he found a quiet spot where he projected his consciousness onto Heishan.

The instant his consciousness arrived, he was drawn to the magnificent Blue Scale emanating a powerful aura. After an immediate inquiry and exchange of information, Feng Qing ‘an understood the whole situation.

“We’ve stirred up too big a fuss!”

Feng Qing ‘an couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on. It was clear that they had provoked a creature much superior to them, who, upon realizing it couldn’t tackle them itself, had solicited help from the highest-ranking and most powerful being in the mountain.

“Will my righteousness still work?”

This was the question Feng Qing ‘an had to consider. His righteousness could suppress chaos and demons, but would this Mountain god fall under this category?

Thinking optimistically, the Mountain god may be suppressed by his righteousness too, yet considering the god’s highly respected status, the books his elder brother had left years ago may not be of any use.

The Mountain god had already sent its decree, and the creature chosen to deliver it was no ordinary one. Clearly, the Mountain god was not afraid, as the mandate was very simple – it wanted Heishan to come for a talk.

But if it were that simple, calling Heishan for this talk surely wouldn’t be for a casual conversation!

Should he go?

This was what Feng Qing ‘an was pondering. He even considered allowing Heishan to return home and hide for a while. But considering Heishan’s size, even if his house was large, it wouldn’t be a good hiding spot. After all, Heishan was now comparable in size to the yellow cows they bred.

However, Feng Qing ‘an soon realized he was overthinking. In the mountain, if you received the decree of the Mountain god, you couldn’t go against his will.

As the sun set in the west and twilight arrived, a white wolf arrived from the west, stepping on the clouds..
