Beast Tamer: Awakening a Mythical Talent at the Beginning

Chapter 36 - Alternative Application of the Talent of Luck Convergence, the Possibility of Picking up Treasures!

With that in mind, Bai Zian led Qiao Gubai as they made their way out of Candlefire Mountain. Bai Zian had a good sense of direction. After a short while, both of them successfully arrived at the checkpoint.

In Candlefire City, the locals were very interested in beastmasters entering Candlefire Mountain. However, those exiting the mountain didn’t attract much attention. Because of this, Bai Zian and Qiao Gubai easily passed through the checkpoint and entered the city.

“Now that you’ve officially joined me,” Bai Zian said, “I’m planning to take you to Bai Lin City. Is there anything left unfinished in Mining Rock City that you need to take care of before we leave?”

Though Bai Zian had already sent Bai Zhi to handle Qiao Gubai’s matters in Mining Rock City, he didn’t reveal this.

Instead, he posed the question to her.

“I still have some debts in Mining Rock City… I need to go back and deal with those,” Qiao Gubai cautiously replied.

“That’s a trivial matter. The Bai family will take care of it for you. What you should be thinking about is whether you need to return to bid farewell to your family and friends,” Bai Zian interrupted.

“Really? My debts can be settled? That’s fantastic!” Qiao Gubai exclaimed, visibly excited. “As for the other matters… I think I’ll just follow you to Bai Lin City.”

The news that her debts could be resolved brought immense relief to Qiao Gubai.

Although the debts were inherited from her parents, they had been weighing heavily on her. The fact that Bai Zian could solve this problem made her deeply grateful.

She realized that Bai Zian had already done so much for her — helping her leave Candlefire Mountain, securing a new contracted beast, and now even resolving her financial troubles.

Despite having not yet contributed much to Bai Zian, she felt indebted to him.

She decided that once she had the strength, she would repay his kindness to the best of her ability.

Bai Zian, of course, noticed her reaction and smiled.

He could more or less guess what Qiao Gubai was thinking, which was exactly the result he had hoped for. For someone like Bai Zian, Qiao Gubai’s minor issues were no trouble at all.

With just a word, he could leverage his resources to secure the unwavering loyalty of a talent with an S-class special ability. What deal could be more profitable than that?

Qiao Gubai was unaware of Bai Zian’s inner thoughts, but her heart was filled with gratitude.

Regarding saying goodbye to her family and friends, due to her unique talent, people had gradually distanced themselves from her over the years, making her more reclusive. Hence, she had no one to say goodbye to.

After brief consideration, she decided to leave Mining Rock City behind and follow Bai Zian to Bai Lin City.

Bai Zian had no objections, so the matter was settled.

In the following days, Bai Zian instructed Bai Zhi and others to arrange train tickets for their return to Bai Lin City, which wasn’t a difficult task.

Bai Zhi quickly completed the arrangements and informed Bai Zian that three days later, a Thousand-Blade Centipede train heading to Bai Lin City would arrive at Candlefire City’s station. They could then board it to return.

Bai Zian had no objections to the plan. As for the three days before the train’s arrival, he decided to take the opportunity to explore Candlefire City.

Despite having been in the city for a while, he hadn’t had time to rest, as he had headed straight to Candlefire Mountain for training upon his arrival.

Now, he could finally explore the city. However, after one round of exploration, Bai Zian was left somewhat disappointed.

As an affiliated small city, Candlefire City’s level of prosperity was far below that of Bai Lin City. The only notable feature was the availability of many low-level fire-element resources, likely due to the presence of a nearby volcano.

However, these resources were of little use to Bai Zian, as he had recently looted a small spider nest, obtaining many similar materials. Feeling somewhat disinterested, he continued wandering around the markets of Candlefire City, still holding onto a hope — perhaps he could get lucky and find a hidden treasure.

After all, Bai Zian had the [Eye of Revelation], a talent that could detect anything extraordinary in his surroundings.

If something special was out there, it would be impossible to escape his notice. He hoped to use his ability to discover a rare treasure.

This thought kept him searching through the city’s various markets. Yet, for two days straight, Bai Zian found nothing of value.

He began to grow frustrated.

In a city as large as Candlefire, how could there not be a single hidden gem? Is my luck really that bad?

“Wait, luck?” Bai Zian suddenly had a revelation and turned to look at Qiao Gubai beside him.

Right, I almost forgot — I have someone with a special luck-based talent with me all along.

There was no need to overthink. His bad luck had to be because Qiao Gubai’s presence was absorbing all the good fortune. That was the issue.

“Qiao Gubai, you take the lead from now on. Let’s go wherever you feel like going, and I’ll follow along,” Bai Zian said.

Though a problem had arisen, the solution was simple: a shift in strategy. If Qiao Gubai’s talent was drawing in all the good luck, then she should be the one leading. Maybe her fortunate aura would guide them to something valuable.

Although Qiao Gubai was confused, she didn’t disobey Bai Zian’s instructions. Thus, she took the lead, and the two continued wandering through Candlefire City’s markets.

This time, with Qiao Gubai leading, they hadn’t walked for long before they stumbled upon something truly valuable.

Bai Zian’s idea had proven to be right.
