MMORPG: Divine Mech Hunter

Chapter 303: Gaining Both Fame and Wealth

“Oh, little brother, what brings you back to me so soon? Can’t get me out of your mind?”

Li Yao didn’t feel like joking around. This woman was a black widow. The last time they were together, he was nearly poisoned to death by her. If not for his life deprivation ability, he might have been killed by this enchantress.

“I need information about the president of the Lake Mountain Guild.” Li Yao stated his request directly, without beating around the bush.

“Alright, wait a moment.” Blade became serious once the conversation turned to business.

Li Yao ended the communication to wait for the message. A quarter of an hour later, the token relayed the message to him completely as expected. However, reading the message, Li Yao furrowed his eyebrows.

“You won’t even fight? Boring! The Lake Mountain Guild truly lives up to its reputation as the most shameless guild.” Li Yao used a Hearthstone helplessly, ready to head back to town.

Just after returning to the Undercity, Sister Li contacted him to say, “I have the information. The elite players of the Lake Mountain Guild have collectively moved to the orc’s capital city. It looks like your opportunity is gone.”

Li Yao replied, “I already know. What a waste of my information fee. Who would’ve thought the Lake Mountain Guild could be so shameless? If I’d known, I would’ve made the first move on them.”

“What will you do now? Do you have a way to take action in the capital city?” Sister Li teased.

“One could act in the capital city, but the cost would be too high and not worth the gains. With my current military rank and position, it would be quite troublesome to start anything. If they were in Undercity, it would be much simpler, but unfortunately, they’re not.”

Li Yao did have a method to take action in the main city, but the cost was too high. As for Undercity, he could easily frame the Lake Mountain Guild using his standing as the queen’s disciple. With the support of the Banshee, these minor affairs wouldn’t even be worth mentioning. However, the Lake Mountain Guild seemingly didn’t want to give Li Yao any chances.

A while later, he got word that the elite players of the Lake Mountain Guild had all logged off the game, prompting Li Yao to say, “Big Brother, running a big guild like this is simply lacking in style.”

“It appears that before logging out, the vice president posted a statement, admitting they can’t match up to you and suggesting an agreement to leave each other in peace.” Sister Li appraised the situation, “You’ve really built up quite an aura of intimidation, even causing them to lose their nerve just from hearing about you.”

“Forget it. I’ll deal with those bird men later.” Li Yao felt helpless, but what could he do? The guild had gone to such lengths, if Li Yao were to trouble them now, he would lose the moral high ground.

While fights and killings are normal in games, there were still certain etiquettes to be observed among guilds.

Even if he didn’t intend to let it go, killing ordinary guild members wouldn’t make any difference.

“So, what are you planning to do now?” Sister Li asked.

Li Yao shrugged and responded, “What else can I do? I’ve had enough of this game. I’m logging off to take a nap and rest my mind. I have to sign a contract in the morning and sort out the matters of our guild’s base. I’ll have to bother you with the guild affairs.”

“That’s my job. Goodnight then,” proclaimed Sister Li before cutting off the communication.

And with that, Li Yao also logged off and rested. The six assassination attempts had exhausted him, and he quickly fell asleep.

However, the storm he had stirred was only just beginning.

Li Yao had assassinated the president of the Arna Guild three times. If that can be compared to starting a small fire, then him posting the video of the assassination of the Shengshi Guild’s president is akin to igniting a barrel of explosives.

The Shengshi Guild and Club are infamous, and while their reputation might not have been the best, they were well-known, reaching heights Arna or Lake Mountain couldn’t compare to.

Everyone knew of Shengshi’s strength and that they are not to be trifled with. When news emerged about Shengshi uniting with two other guilds, that held back certain guilds contemplating a move.

As far as they were concerned, Shengshi alone could crush Starfire; to say nothing of their alliance with two more guilds.

From the recent news, they learned about the strategies being employed by the three major guilds – to wear down Starfire Guild with minimal costs incurred. The ruthlessness of the scheme didn’t need stating.

While Starfire’s indignant reaction might not matter to these people, such is the nature of an open plot. They inform you plainly of their plans, yet there’s nothing you can do about it.

As for Li Yao’s thread posted on the forum, they assumed he was headed for a big disaster.

Arna’s disgraceful defeat could have been attributed to them being weak, but the spread of the three-part assassination video had caused a major uproar on the forum.

Li Yao emerged victorious. With his lone force, he humiliated three major guilds. The Lake Mountain Guild even admitted that they were no match for him while offering peace agreements. For the first time, those who didn’t care or thought it was a publicity stunt, began taking Starfire and Li Yao seriously.

The video below had many comments pinned to the top. The leaders of many guilds, as well as those with no ill will against Starfire, came to the forum to express their own opinions.

Edward: After this battle, nobody will dare belittle the King of Hunters, or any member of the Starfire Guild. I feel like I’m witnessing the rise of a fast-rising meteor.

Xiao Ze: Many comments previously claimed that Starfire and Prairie Fire are troublemakers that will disrupt the e-sports scene in Hua Xia. Those so-called predictors were right. However, I see this as a positive development. I silently express my support for the Starfire Guild.

KB: Prairie Fire demonstrated an admirable spirit of perseverance. I really hope he can revive the stagnant Hua Xia e-sports sector and inject new vitality into it. I long for a break from the current state of self-imposed stagnation and arrogance. I hope Hua Xia e-sports can shine brightly again.

Thor: I’ve always longed for a worthy, blood-pumping opponent, but I’ve never found one. But now, with Prairie Fire’s advent, I understand that there are always higher mountains. It has also reignited my fighting spirit. I plan on joining a club and looking forward to the day when I face off against Prairie Fire in a real match.

As several celebrities and influential figures began to emerge, the entire forum turned into a tumultuous sea.

Naturally, with supporters, there were also haters. Heated arguments could be seen all over the forum.

But one thing was for sure, no one was questioning Li Yao’s skills anymore. The most straightforward impact was the increased renown of Starfire Guild, with countless people wanting to join.

Many disheartened players, or individuals that were depressed due to pressure from various guilds, made their way to Starfire Guild’s dwelling in Undercity.

This signified Li Yao reaping both fame and fortune from the battle…
