Chapter 168: Holding the Fort (Additional content for 850 monthly tickets)

Li Yao said cheerfully, “Tie Niu my man, lieutenant! I didn’t expect to meet you here!”

Tie Niu blinked, pointing at Li Yao, and blurted out, “Are you bloody serious, Li Yao? I’ve been trying to avoid you at all costs, how can I run into you here?”

“Isn’t it something to be happy about when old friends meet?” Li Yao shrugged.

“Screw you. I knew you were up to no good, so I avoided you earlier. Looks like I was right, you’ve screwed everyone. Can’t a brother catch a break?” Tie Niu almost wailed.

“Okay then, how about I fight you without using my pets? If you manage to kill me, nobody else would be able to.” Li Yao suggested, dismissing his Crystal Spider.

“How about not using your weapon too?” suggested Tie Niu.

“Should I stand still and let you attack me?”

“That could work…” Tie Niu’s eyes lit up.

“No, that can’t work.”

“System: Both players, please begin immediately or you will be determined as defeat by default and your right to challenge will be cancelled.”

“Screw you and your system, I surrender.” Tie Niu grudgingly surrendered.

“System: Player Tie Niu has surrendered, please confirm.”

“Confirmed.” Tie Niu said through gritted teeth.

“You actually….?” Now, Li Yao was confused.

“What you actual what? If I don’t surrender, you’ll kill me. Maybe I should just switch to another Priest spot.”

Tie Niu was helpless. The last fight with Li Yao was a total nightmare for him.

He was greatly dissatisfied the first time, but he just couldn’t stay angry the second time. Hidden Dragon Flash had always worked for him in the trials.

Fighting bosses might pose a little bit of a challenge, but when it came to elites, he crushed them like vegetables. But now, the only one he worried about – Li Yao – had shown up.

Facing Li Yao, he simply didn’t know how to attack, the usually dominating Hidden Dragon Flash was useless. He didn’t enjoy feeling powerless and being manipulated as if his every move was anticipated.

Tie Niu was transferred out, and the 15-second countdown began again.

Players who didn’t know Li Yao were amazed. Tie Niu’s prowess was quite renowned and he was always dominating from the beginning by seizing the first Priest position. But now he had surrendered without a fight.

“War God, I guess you’re up next.” said the Priest.

War God stood up, nodded slightly, gazing into the battlefield.

Meanwhile, Li Yao’s points kept increasing. Every second, he gained two points, akin to killing an enemy player every second.

Soon, War God was transferred in.

“It’s War God himself, things are going to be interesting now.”

“This match will undoubtedly be exciting.”

“It’s definitely going to be fierce; War God is known as the battle maniac.”

“Finally, a battle among equals.”

Many audience members became more invested as they knew War God.

“Never expected another old friend.” Li Yao exclaimed with a smile.

“Wait for me.” War God stated seriously.

“What do you mean?” Li Yao felt confused.

“Wait for me to improve my skills, then I will defeat you.” War God declared, ignoring Li Yao’s confusion. “I surrender.”

“My God, what’s happening? Why did even War God surrender?”

“Impossible! How can a battle maniac surrender?!”

“I must be seeing things.”

Commotion erupted from the visibly astounded spectators. No one expected War God to surrender as well.

Li Yao didn’t care much, his aim was to secure the Main Priest position and not let anyone who could threaten his top spot take it.

“No need for transferring; I surrender.” Jin Jin sounded resigned.

The 15-second countdown engaged for Li Yao once more.

“Seriously, who is this pro masking his identity? Why did everyone surrender?”

“Feels a bit fake. Is this some sort of ploy by all the big shots to promote someone?”

“Don’t kid yourself. When have you ever seen War God surrender?”

The audience was completely baffled, struggling to understand why everyone was surrendering one after the other.

“When did you become such a coward?” A hot, red-haired female player asked Jin Jin.

“He’s too strong for you.” Jin Jin said, expression unchanged.

“Oh really? I must give it a try.” Phantom Butterfly Dance commented, “I might not be a match for him, but I won’t run away without putting up a fight. Are you even a man?”

“Go ahead and try and you’ll understand.” Jin Jin’s words had a dual meaning.

“You’re too young, I’m not interested.” Phantom Butterfly Dance glanced at Jin Jin, then turned to Li Yao, “Let’s see how fun it can be to beat him.”

“Good luck. Just hope it doesn’t leave any mental scars.” Jin Jin hadn’t finished speaking when Phantom Butterfly Dance got transferred.

“Watts! It’s Phantom Butterfly Dance, with a score of 16. Damn, her body… so provocative. I could play with her for a whole year.”

“Are you trying to get yourself killed? How dare you flirt with her.”

“Ahem…”

Phantom Butterfly Dance gave a disdainful glance at the two guys who were discussing her, then turned to Li Yao and said, “I’ve heard that you’re quite formidable?”

“Just about average,” Li Yao replied.

“Given your self-awareness, I’ll go easy on you. You won’t have a miserable death,” Phantom Butterfly Dance’s voice was full of confidence, as if stating a fact.

“Thank you,” Li Yao shrugged nonchalantly, holding the Long Bow in his hand.

The competition area wasn’t large, and Li Yao was completely within her charge range.

As soon as the countdown finished, Phantom Butterfly Dance’s Huge Sword suddenly burst into red flames, transforming into a Burning Flame Sword.

“Fiery Fighter!” said Li Yao, a gleam in his eye. The Fiery Fighter was known for her fierce output and wasn’t short on control either. It was like having an additional Enchantment on her weapon, extremely powerful.

“At least you know something. But I won’t hold back until you fall.”

With a swoosh, Phantom Butterfly Dance charged.

Boom…

However, she only managed to charge ten yards before crashing into an Arrow Tower. Although the Arrow Tower crumbled, her charge was interrupted.

“Interesting, let’s try again.”

Phantom Butterfly Dance initiated another charge, leaving a trail of fire in her wake.

Boom…

The result was the same as before- she crashed into an Arrow Tower again.

This time, she got serious. If you could say that the first time was a fluke or luck, the second time was definitely not.

But being able to calculate her charge point in a split second was almost impossible. If the Arrow Tower was placed at the wrong time, she would either have charged past already, or she would have circumvented the Arrow Tower and continued charging.

“Indeed, not bad. Let’s try again.” The Phantom Butterfly Dance’s competitive spirit piqued…
