Infinite Evolution System Made Me Too OP!

Chapter 173: Goddes Of Light

This was a turning point in Azmodeus\'s personality, as the price of becoming stronger than all the rest began to take its toll on his psyche. Slowly but surely, it erased all humanity left within his essence.

For absolute peace, a great suffering must first commence. -

It was unknown where Azmodeus had heard this quote from; however, he was sure that it was full of interpretations and meant to depict a great number of principles.

But it was still a saying that resonated within the very core of his being, telling him that to achieve everything that his mother told him he would, he must first pay a hefty price.

Even so, this was all the ongoings of a few Primordial Essence Clones and Mirror Mirage\'s. While the main body was still in the middle of a dance with the eldest daughter of the Doxing Duke Household, speaking about a topic that Azmodeus already knew how to answer.

-

"You ask if I\'m not from this world when you already know the answer to your own question."

Azmodeus spoke these words in a hushed whisper as he moved his feet left and right in calculated motion. He attempted to guide the giddy woman through the last parts of the dance—dance motions that he had long since memorized in his thirst for knowledge.

"Yeah, I know you come from Earth, but I just wanted to make certain of it, Amon."

Jia Lei gazed into those blood-red eyes of his as she seemed to have gotten lost in a trance—a trance that was impossible to break through with her effort alone.

"So, what is it that you wish to know?" Azmodeus inquired with a raised brow.

"Wish to know? Oh, whatever do you mean?" Jia Lei questioned with an innocent tone, her eyes flickering a little as she held his hands with a nervous grip.

"Oh? You think I don\'t know that you want to ask me something? You would not wait until we entered this ambience to bring up that topic if you weren\'t planning to ask me something, so what is it?"

Upon looking at that discerning gleam in his eyes, Jia Lei knew that she had been caught. So in the end, she stopped the act and replied, "I need your help… in hunting a few heroes…"

Her tone became grave toward the end as she knew the implications of such a notion. With the \'Goddess\' who summoned them still watching everything they did, she needed a good opportunity to propose this request, which just so happened to be now.

She understood that she was asking a lot, and it was understandable if her idol rejected her proposal, but when she turned her head up to the man in question…

A smile… He\'s smiling…?

Jia Lei didn\'t know if she had seen anything more radiant in her entire life, but more than that, she didn\'t know why he was smiling after she said such a thing.

However, after a moment of thought, Azmodeus focused his previously listless gaze back on the woman in his arms as he said, "I will accept your offer."

"But you haven\'t even heard my terms or what sort of dangers lie ahead if you take on this request-"

"I don\'t care. Now tell me, where are these heroes you want me to hunt, and how strong are they?" Azmodeus interjected with a nonchalant voice—a voice that hid a deeply rooted sense of joy beneath it.

"???" Jia Lei looked at the handsome man with confusion in her gaze, but regardless of her puzzlement, she responded, "They are located within the Vermillion Phoenix Providence. Furthermore, they know of my identity as a hero through the divinations from the Goddess.

Through the impartial and sadistic actions performed by the Goddess, she allows all the heroes she\'s summoned to do whatever they want.

And with these particular heroes in the Early-Platinum Rank… Well, they want m-"

"I understand what their general objective is. Now, tell me, how many of them are there?"

Azmodeus interrupted her not to be rude, but because he was no fool. From her strained expression, it didn\'t take a genius to understand that she likely escaped from these heroes after they attempted to \'take her\' by force.

Following this train of thought, he could infer that these so-called \'heroes\' were extremely livid over the fact that their soon-to-be victim had gotten away. In response to this, they waited for the opportunity that would come when their country and Goddess gave the go-ahead.

Azmodeus did not know who this \'Goddess\' was or how she was capable of summoning heroes from Earth. But the one thing he did know was that, like all other beings high on power, she thought of herself as God.

And with this mindset, it was highly probable that she betrayed the Duke\'s daughter and allowed the Heroes to have their way with her after finding her. All for their \'amusement\' or \'entertainment\'.

Of course, this was all conjecture, and it was unknown whether it was actually the case. But with the following conversation that he had with Jia Lei, he was able to confirm it with very few discrepancies between his hypothesis and the truth.

As it turned out, the betrayal of the Goddess was far worse than one might imagine, as Jia Lei was no ordinary hero and was widely known as the \'Most Devout Follower\' of the Goddess.

At least that was the case hundreds of years ago, around the time that she first arrived in the Astral Plane. But after hundreds of years of monotony, the Goddess, otherwise known as the \'Goddess of Light\', found the current state of things far too dull and routine.

So following a few hundred years of continued boredom, she decided that it would be fun to play around with her most devout follower—a zealot one might call her…
