Primitive Man

Chapter 28: Rescue plan

The woman, who had been whispering urgently to the bulky man, seemed to be trying to calm him down. She placed a hand on his arm, speaking in low tones that Garnt couldn\'t quite make out from his distance.

The tense exchange between the two adults hinted at some sort of hierarchy or power dynamic that was at play.

Garnt\'s fingers dug into the bark as he felt a surge of anger and helplessness. He couldn\'t stand watching the boy being mistreated, but he knew that if he intervened prematurely, it could jeopardize his aunt\'s safety and his own mission to gather information about the man\'s weak points.

By looking at the size of the man, Garnt knew even if he and his aunt attacked him from both sides, he would still be able to crush them with his giant hands.

He reminded himself of the promise he had made to the girl – to come back for her. With a determined resolve, Garnt focused on gathering as much information as he could.

"Aunt, I know you\'re angry. But let\'s go for now," Looking at his aunt, who was grinding her teeth, Garnt said. "We will make some weapons and a plan to take down that man. I won\'t let him have a quick death,"

The woman took the two kids back to the place where they came from, and the man looked suspiciously around the area where they were picking fruits, but after a few seconds, he also went back to the place without trying to stay there anymore.

"Eva, I want to kill that man, this is the first time I genuinely want to kill something," Garnt muttered after turning back, so he could go back to his cave and discuss his plans with others, but before that, he needed powerful weapons.

[Just the right time. You have new blueprints unlocked since you completed previous ones.]

As soon as Eva said that, the familiar screen popped out, in front of Garnt.

Blueprints:

>Bow and Arrows (600)

>Nails (200)

>Spears (400)

"Buy all of them, we are going to use everything against that man," Garnt muttered his anger and guilt rather clear in his face but Eva was different.

[Do I even have the right to be angry about this? I did worse and seeing the tears of these kids reminded me of those times.]

She was reflecting on her own past and realized how absurd she had been, blinded by the greed of her ambitions, causing her to forget her humanity.

On their way back to the cave, Garnt and Ayra were silent as both of them were worried about what happened, Gundo upon seeing her sister and son returning felt happy but she could easily tell something must have happened.

After resting for a few hours, Garnt explained things to Gundo and said how he was going to take a risk and help those kids, Unlike, how he expected Gundo to react, she had a smile on her face.

"Help them. I don\'t mind, but is it really okay to kill that man? He might be the father of those two," Gundo added some context hoping, Garnt and Ayra wouldn\'t be hated after they kill that man by the kids.

"It doesn\'t matter, even if he is their father, he doesn\'t have any right to treat them like that. I can be a better guide to them besides, this is for the greater good. We don\'t want to have a man like him close to our cave," Garnt muttered showing how much he thought about this matter.

"Your decision, Garnt. I will help you with anything," Gundo said with a smile.

"I need all of your help to do this, but first I will explain my plan," Garnt suddenly took a stick and started drawing things on the sand.

"We are going to make bows and arrows, which are long-range weapons. We can use them to injure that man without getting close." He drew the shape, according to the blueprint. "But simple arrows wouldn\'t be enough since they are not sharp enough to pierce the gigantic muscles of that man,"

He said and pointed at Gundo. "Mother, I know you\'re playing with medicines, so what is the most dangerous poisonous plant you know? We are going to apply poison to the tip of the arrow to deal extra damage."

She thought about his words for a minute, her brow furrowing in contemplation. "Garnt," she finally spoke, her voice carrying a tone of both concern and determination, "I do know of a plant, a rare and highly toxic one.

But I don\'t know where exactly you brought it from, it was mixed with the yesterday fruits you bought here,"

Ayra\'s mind quickly went back to their previous hunting spot and she quickly asked Garnt to leave it to her.

"Yes, let\'s do that. We should be careful when dealing with poison, so Kara is not allowed to get close to us. Aunt and Mother should wear an extra layer of clothes on your face and hands while working with poison,"

Everyone nodded their head showing Garnt was truly the leader of this group.

"Also Aunt," Garnt paused for a minute and looked at Ayra\'s bone dagger. "I know your fighting style is a lot different from what dagger can provide you,"

Garnt suddenly started to draw the second blueprint he bought. It was the figure of a special spear, made up of the heaviest wood and the sharpest bone they could find.

"This is called a spear, a weapon with a huge reach and power. It will be the ideal weapon for you," Garnt was excited to finish all these tasks so that he could go and rescue those kids; he knew that every second counted.

They started working as soon as they could to fulfil the promise Garnt had made to the little girl.
