Re: Player

Chapter 119: [You scratch my back, I scratch yours!]

\'Glad that all that hard work is slowly paying off,\' I smiled on the inside, recalling my initial days in this world.

But what did indeed surprise me was Rosalyn herself. One of the \'Step on me Mommy\' girls that all the creepy machoism boys craved for.

\'To think I would meet one of the most famous witches this early, huh?\' I thought as I recalled her information. Both her future as well as her past.

She had a rather fierce personality along with an equally appealing face that even the models were jealous of. And when added with her special ability to control and manipulate fire, she easily became one of the finest NPCs among the witches that players looked up to.

But the real reason why Rosalyn left an impression on me was her storyline. Her life that was miserable on every turn and the bravery she showed even at her worst times. It was truly a memorable tale to remember.

By fate or maybe by coincidence, I was with her in her final moments too, as she killed thousands of demons in the future war before succumbing to them. She did all that while still praying for her sisters till her last breath.

\'But that day is still far away so I guess we can twitch the future a little, can\'t we?\' I thought as I looked at her before speaking,

"I didn\'t think that I would be meeting Master witch Rosalyn, of all the people here."

There was a genuine surprise on my face. That, in turn, made her curious as well.

"You know of me?" She asked.

"I have heard a little," I answered vaguely.

"Is that so? I guess I am more known than I thought I am to be," she seemed to smile a little at my words before adding,

"May I know your purpose here?"

She was direct, alright.

Though I didn\'t mind that, given I would like to collect as much information as possible too.

"I\'ll be direct then. What is your purpose to visit the Border Town in the near future?" I asked as I looked at her.

A silence followed my question as Rosalyn kept looking at me. She seemed to be weighing something in her mind for a couple of seconds.

Not minding their reaction, I waited for them to answer first.

"Will it be all right to ask a few questions first?" She asked.

"Sure."

I didn\'t have a problem with that.

I could see her sigh in relief a little before she asked,

"Why do you want us to not go to the town?"

"Because something big is going to happen there pretty soon and I am trying to minimize the damage," I answered.

"Something big?!" she was shocked as she looked at me for a couple of seconds before she asked again,

"Is it connected to the increased number of Dark Mages in town?"

I nodded again, making their expression turned a bit more sour.

"Is it connected to the underground black market auction?" She asked, tensed as she looked at me.

\'??\' Though I was just confused as I shook my head before speaking,

"From the information I have, nope. I don\'t believe it has any connection to the auction. May I ask why did you ask that question?"

They seemed to be tense about it. Rosalyn was hesitating for a moment, but in the end she made up her mind and finally decided to speak,

"It Is something like this, one for witches has sent a message to us a few days ago that she had been captured by the slave owners near the border town. We were planning to save her from that place. That is our reason to be there."

Now, isn\'t that something?

"Are you guys talking about Raven?" I asked curiously, making their eyes widen a lot.

During my time here, especially during the repeats, that I have been doing here, I had met a half-witch a number of times. Sometimes she was a slave, other times she was running around finding information.

I thought she was just a random spy, or perhaps an assassin or something. I didn\'t pay much attention to it.

The reason for my lack of interest was also because half-witches are different, a little in the sense that they lose their identity as a natural witch and are basically exiled.

They lose their connection to the mana because of one taboo or another and become a \'normal\' human. Though their physical abilities somehow increase and they could perform superhuman feats in exchange for losing exceptional mana.

\'But they are loathed both by the witches and the humans,\' I pondered before looking at the Witches in front of me.

"You have met her?" Rosalyn asked in a concerned voice, which made me wonder if they knew about her or not?

It could be totally possible that they have no idea that she is a half witch. Or maybe they knew and there were special circumstances?

"Personally, I have never met her, but I got to know her name during my investigations as I was looking for something," I lied a little.

Though this was getting really interesting. I wonder what kind of face they would make us to get to know the truth about the situation.

\'Perhaps I can make her one of my underworkers,\' I thought as I smiled a little.

Though I need to test her capabilities as well, before I could put her to work. If her potential isn\'t good enough, I could simply never meet her.

"So that is how it is, huh?" Rosalyn seemed to be in deep thoughts about it.

"I can bring her to you, if you don\'t mind?" I proposed my idea to them, making them really surprised again.

"You will really do that for us?" Rosalyn seemed touched by my sincerity. The tense and fierce gaze was nowhere to be seen now.

"Well. It will make things less messier for me," I laughed as I scratched the back of my head.

Even though I said that, there was one more thing that was going on in my mind.

\'Was there any way with which I can make these witches is owe me?\' I wondered about that.

Maybe I could gain a positive stand while helping them out with this task, but honestly, I could do much better than that.

\'But above everything, I first need to find out the location of that half witch, Raven,\' I reached back to the first steps and looked at Rosalyn.

"All right then. I bring her to you. You take your witches away from here. Everyone is happy," I spoke as I noted the points and began walking away from there.

What about Anna and Leena?

I could just restart and they would never know… but somehow my morals that still existed within me made me pause, look at them and then to Rosalyn.

"My brother wants to help them. So please take care of them, I don\'t know what problems you people have among yourself, but can you solve them by the time I come back?"

I spoke in with a rather serious smile, making all of them shudder. Rosalyn wanted to speak something, but I couldn\'t wait to hear her out.

[One Way Out!]

[Dexterity Boosted]

Moving through the forest, I ran as fast as I could before reaching the town center. From that point onwards, I chose the nearest entry gate to the underground black market and began searching for Raven.

I had to use [One Way Out!] half a dozen times while continuously changing my disguise before I finally found the girl I was looking for.

Black hair and black eyes, and clothes that tightly covered her skin giving out the entire body shape that girl had.

She was sitting silently in one of the slave prison cells, seemingly chanting something on her own. From the height and body proportions, she seemed to be around 18 or a little less.

"Are you done stalking?" I heard her voice as she slowly lifted her chin and looked at me.

Now that she was looking directly at me, I could see a red hue in her eyes.

"Demon syndrome, huh?" I looked at her in surprise, making her widen her eyes

"I came here to rescue you… but it seems like you have a situation of your own," I asked as I looked at her.

And her face was even more surprised than before. Though that changed with fear as she asked,

"Are you going to tell them?!"

-Clank!

"I mean… I can do that… but… " easily cracking open the lock, I entered the prison and reached closer to her. Touching her head as she sat there half dazed, I then used one of my most powerful spells.

[Purify!]

And then the half-witch became a complete witch again.
