Emperor's Domination

Chapter 6081: Secrecy

Chapter 6081: Secrecy

After all, there should be broken continents, shattered weapons, or remnants of the progenitors.

“Yes, someone cleaned it up.” Li Qiye agreed that this was the cleanest battlefield he had seen.

“Hmm, for treasures and corpses?” Six-style said.

“You’ve ever seen scavengers or treasure-seekers clean the battlefield with their tongue?” Li Qiye joked because the place was so empty.

“Right, this doesn’t make sense.” She agreed.

“Indeed, someone dealt with the aftermath meticulously, not leaving a trace behind.” Li Qiye said.

“But why?” She didn’t understand.

Was the target still Dingtian’s reincarnation or someone else? Given the present, the progenitors most likely lost.

“Would an overlord or something greater bother to clean the battlefield after killing some progenitors?” Li Qiye asked.

“I don’t know.” She thought if the target were as powerful as an overlord or an immortal, killing progenitors was not a big deal.

“Maybe a third party?” She speculated.

Who doesn’t matter as much as why.” Li Qiye said.

“Then why?” She asked.

“Because the opponent was strong, very strong.” Li Qiye observed the battlefield for a bit before replying.

“Why does that necessitate a full sweep of the battlefield?” She asked.

“Fear of being traced back.” Li Qiye said: “The sweeping technique is sophisticated and beyond the reach of a primal ancestor. The target took the initiative to clean the scene, aware that more powerful beings could trace back from the tiniest clues.”

“You’re implying that at the very least, a supreme overlord did this, Young Noble. How strange, it shouldn’t be a big deal to kill some progenitors.” Six-style took a deep breath.

“Hard to say.” Li Qiye answered: “Why does a mighty being want to stay hidden?”

“Hmm...” Six-style pondered the question.

An emperor could massacre a kingdom or a clan without facing actual repercussions outside of being reviled. It applied to this case as well.

“Some things are just repeated, perhaps this is another case.” Li Qiye said.

“What is it?” She asked.

“The three immortals trained a disciple once, he lost his dao heart and betrayed his world.” Li Qiye said.

“Xian Chengtian.” Six-style recalled a tale of someone being trained by the legendary immortals of the redemption grounds. He was one of the strongest cultivators and eventually betrayed his masters.

“Hmm, was Xian Chengtian around then?” She asked because the timeline didn’t match.

“It isn’t Xian Chengtian, of course. Nevertheless, this concealing attempt makes it interesting.” Li Qiye said.

“Do you have any idea who it is? Another traitor, perhaps? ” She asked.

“Just being a traitor isn’t that serious, it’s not like there haven’t been traitors before.” Li Qiye said.

“That’s true.” Six-style agreed because despite being a traitor, Xian Chengtian still reached the apex of their world.

Li Qiye turned his sight back on the battlefield, determined to perform a more thorough analysis. After a while, he focused on one of the maelstroms and pulled something out.

His eyes narrowed as he took a look at the object in his hand.

“This is...” Six-style was startled when she saw it.

It looked like a bell at first but could be a tiny cage - a pendant to be worn around the neck.

“We saw it back at Currency Exchange.” She said.

“Yes, this is it.” He nodded.

“Pawned by Xian Baihui.” She murmured.

The two pendants were identical with one exception - this one didn’t have any light, only an empty shell.

“So this belonged to Baibui too?” She asked.

“No.” He shook his head: “It’s a technique but not Jiao Heng’s, strange. Who imitated who?”
