Chapter 151: A Normal Society

Chapter 151: A Normal Society

“Hello, I saw a poster saying you were looking for more staff.” Compass Carburettor approached the cashier, stating his approach.

“We’ve…already hired…” The man behind the counter said, feeling mildly irritated upon seeing his handsome visage, thinking, ‘Just go become a freaking actor. Why the heck do you want to work here?’

“Do you want to work here?” Suddenly, a husky voice resounded from behind, causing the cashier to shut up immediately.

Compass Carburettor turned around, noticing a rotund woman in her late forties donning a rather thick layer of makeup. And based on her expensive attire, she seemed to be the owner of the café. He made a logical assumption based on the interior decoration of the place.

Had the owner been a man, he would have chosen the place to be simple with the focus on comfort. Those with an interest in decoration would have installed some lighting and artwork on the walls.

But, the interior here was rather heavy, with ornamental plants used to decorate every corner and intersection. Moreover, the lighting consisted of night lamps that arched, giving pleasant lighting in the place.

As for the colour combination of the place, they revolved around baby pink, sky blue, and other light colours, making the place more prone for women to visit.

And judging by her attire, the owner lady seemed rich enough to afford at least 5-6 similar establishments.

There were many shops in the shopping complex, some of them were bakeries. And, it seemed around three to four shops had put up a notice to hire staff. But, the reason he had selected this café was for a simple reason.

It occupied the most floor space.

So, it was apparent that the owners of the place were wealthy enough or were the owners of the shopping complex itself. That would explain why their shop had the most floor place.

As to whether he planned to take any advantage of such a situation, he had no idea, to be honest. But, he went along the thought process of, ‘If I have any needs in the future, might as well pick a route that’ll make my life easier.’

“Yes,” Compass Carburettor nodded.

“But, you don’t seem like someone that is in need of money.” The boss lady observed his face and demeanour, noticing how there were no signs of exhaustion in him. It was apparent that he was from a well-to-do family. After all, those who were in need of money won’t be able to take care of their appearance as much as him.

Through her experience, she judged him accordingly and was rather on point for most of the details. ‘But, he’s really handsome. Customers might come just to see him. And well…it will brighten my mood and make my day better if I see such a handsome man working in my cafe every day.’

“Actually…” Compass Carburettor put on an act, hesitating a little before saying, “I am working on a project of mine. So, to save up enough to make it, I have to take up work.”

“Well, no matter,” She waved her hand, acting like she wasn’t bothered by it, “You can start working now. Come with me.”

She then ordered one of the staff members to take care of the process, exiting the café while wearing a light smile, lightly licking her lips before she looked at the time, hurrying along as she boarded her car.

A staff led Compass Carburettor to the staffroom, taking out a uniform from the drawer nearby before handing it to him, “There are three sets of the uniform here. The manager would return shortly. He’ll tell you the rest. Until then, you can sit here and wait.”

Saying so, the staff left, continuing to slack while acting busy. As it was lunchtime, the traffic flow in their café was the lowest. And, he was gearing up for the evening when the place would be packed to the brim with ladies from the nearby college.

He then met with the cashier, grumbling, “That pretty boy…”

“Ugh, don’t make me remember it.” The cashier groaned, “I wanted to send him away, but unfortunately, the boss had coincidently visited right at that time for her routine inspection. Just my luck!”

“Now, no lady would pay attention to our flirting attempts.” The staff sighed, “I had hoped to hit it off with one of the college girls. That’s why I even bothered to work here. My studies are already stressful enough.”

“This is horrible.” The cashier sighed in return before the two continued to converse, trash-talking anything and everything about Compass Carburettor.

As for the person in question, he had closed his eyes, meditating as he felt three Mental Energy streams on him. Two of them were from the staff and the cashier that were trash-talking him while the third was from the boss lady.

He was unable to sense any other Mental Energy streams, sighing, ‘So, they can only emerge in the respective world.’

He then thought things through, ‘At present, I cannot use my Darlac. But still, Darlac is related to stamina, so it can be applied in any field where I have to use my body.’

He then recalled everything Hekatra had taught him, frowning, ‘If I follow a Zekken’s body structure, I should be able to use the horns growing on my Haggon form to turn them into basic Armaments. But, even though I have practiced it enough, it’ll take me time. And, I don’t have a place where I can return to my Haggon form without being discovered.’

He didn’t wish to gather any attention towards himself. After all, he wasn’t sure what a System would do once it sees the news of him. This world did have the internet.

And, the Armament he creates wouldn’t be anything special. Instead, using a regular sword would be more useful and would also prevent any Systems from finding out that he was a System Slayer.

After all, the energy blade he condenses from the Armament would be a clear giveaway. ‘But still, I should have something to protect myself with. I’ll think of it later.’

He then focused, activating the Core Skill he had obtained from the Coincidental Luck System, shuddering immediately.
